Loose quickwire connections that break down over time. Loose connections heat up under a load. Power stayed on the hot wire after the white neutral wires burned completly off. Nothing was plugged into this outlet, the load that broke the camel's back was further down stream.

The past 30 days here have seen the coldest average daytime and night time lows in almost 40 years. Because of extreme environmental heat loss to the atmosphere those furnaces and heaters are working twice as hard and running longer struggling to satisfy and maintain that selected temperature on the thermostat. Even tightly insulated homes and buildings are seeing higher heat loss and longer heating cycles in these conditions.
Even if you set your thermostat as low as mine here (63) those long heat cycles are spinning the meter like a top and can run up your Kw used. It's us against mother nature.

Please stop plugging space heaters into extension cords or plug in strips. It may work for awhile, and then blaze after the connections break down.

Paris has something most other towns don't, a power generating plant. If diesel weren't so expensive we could just generate our own electricity and be self sufficient. Can you imagine if we also had a solar farm in the community!?!?! It could be done if enough forward thinking citizens come together.

Those will definatly block your IR sensor. They bite too. Owner said the device was acting like it had a mind of its own. It had at least a hundred ant minds interfering.

Quick wire method might save time, but might also burn your home and never even kick the breaker. Caught this one just in time. All the homeowner noticed is that the outlet the tv was plugged into stopped working.
