Egg Cart'n chicken tractors are on their way to Hawaii, and honestly I'm a little jealous. đŸ˜„

Hawaii is home to 450,000+ feral chickens, but far fewer domesticated chickens. We are delighted to help this customer with their backyard flock.

Egg Cart'n has customers with our chicken tractors in all 50 states.

If you live in Hawaii or Alaska, email or call for a custom shipping quote.

"Why are my chickens suddenly laying fewer eggs?"

Here's why your chickens' egg count is likely dropping right now.

1. Molt: Chickens put most of their protein intake toward growing new feathers for the winter, meaning they have less to use for producing eggs.

2. Shorter days: A hen's egg production cycle is directly affected by the sun. Therefore shorter days will slow down their production.

What you can do to help:
1. Give your chickens extra protein during the molt. This will boost their health in general, but also likely boost their egg production.

2. During the winter, you can add supplemental lighting in their coop morning and evening to give the effect of a longer day.

This is a friendly reminder to make sure you have your proverbial ducks in a row before buying chicks.

Don't get me wrong, I love seeing people try new things, including backyard chickens. Just know that cute little chicks grow up to be adult chickens.

Chickens make great pets, so buying them as pets is just fine. But please do your homework and be prepared to provide for and protect them.

First frost is coming tonight!

Make sure your chickens have adequate shelter.

Chickens have high body temperature and insulation from their feathers, which enables them to endure very low tems, but they still need shelter from the wind.

While many chicken tractors require using a tarp or canvas to keep the cold wind out, the Egg Cart'n chicken tractor includes removable panels that can be installed in seconds.
