Sometimes obvious things are not so obvious. And when you miss them, they can be expensive….and embarrassing. And often the embarrassing is worse than the expense….”that was dumb”…”.that hurts”…and finally... “there is no way I am going to tell anyone about this…” Well, enough ...

I had to get these photos out as soon as I saw them today. This composite deck needed to have a thin profile and closed off below.
How did we frame it? The patio has a huge piece of flagstone at the door with one natural edge. And like we say "Lighting makes the landscape". The custom railings are on order and will finish this project.

Looks like we need to educate the building inspectors and our appliance vendors.

"As long as fuel- burning appliances inside a home’s thermal envelope are either direct-vent or mechanically exhausted, a kitchen exhaust can be any size and no makeup air is required."

Looks like even the Federal Government can not figure out how to implement the LEAD stuff.
