The Harvey M. Schwartz Endowed Scholarship was created to support students whose financial needs exceeded the cost of tuition and fees, because talent and potential should never be limited by circumstance.

To date, 57 students have gone through the program, and 43 scholars have graduated. They’ve gone on to careers in teaching, finance, communications, social work, marketing, and beyond.

🏅🎉 Congratulations to our 2026 REA Outstanding Engineering Scholars!

The Rutgers Engineering Alumni honor 1 graduating senior from each department with our “Outstanding Engineering Scholar” award! The awardees are celebrated for their high academic achievement, and their involvement & dedication to the department and School of Engineering. The awards were presented on Thursday, May 14th at the SOE Departmental Ceremonies ahead of 2026 Convocation, by members of the engineering alumni association!

⚠️ Volunteers Needed! Rutgers Engineering year-end Convocation Festivities: Departmental Awards alumni representative. You do NOT need to have been one of these majors to participate! 🔴

Each year, the Rutgers Engineering Alumni honor one student from each of the SOE departments with the "Outstanding Engineering Scholar" award. The award is presented to a student at each of the department year-end ceremonies on the afternoon of Thursday, May 14th.

We are looking for 2-3 alumni representatives to volunteer to attend the ceremonies, since they run concurrent to each other. At the ceremony, you will attend on behalf of the alumni association, and present the award to the student recipient during a part of the program.

If a volunteer would like to attend both sessions from Slot 1, that's welcome! Otherwise, we can split that amongst two people.

➡️ Slot 1: 1-2PM (Chemical and Biochemical Engineering), 2-3PM (Materials Science and Engineering) - attend both (or let us know if you can only attend one).
➡️ Slot 2: 2-4PM (Biomedical Engineering)

📝 Rutgers Engineering Alumni Association - Board and Executive Officer Elections!

Are you interested in getting back involved with RU, making a difference in the alumni association, working directly with the Dean’s office, Rutgers Foundation, RUAA, students & alumni on fun projects throughout the school year? Run for a position on the REA Board of Governors!

We will meet both in-person and simulcast on Zoom on Monday, June 8th, 2026, at 6:30pm for board elections.
