Carnegie Involvement Association - CIA

Carnegie Involvement Association - CIA Founded in 1970, the Carnegie Involvement Association, or CIA, was the first independent (non-Greek) organization to win Sweepstakes, or Buggy.

Open to all members of the student body, CIA's objective is to strike the right balance between performing well and having a blast! We invite everyone to try any and all of the various roles in this unique sport, and encourage members and friends to participate in our IM sports teams, join us for community service or weekly Half Price meals, and hang out with us at our social events and parties.

Agent: Tina Wu

Degree(s): BS in Computer Science, Minor in Machine Learning

Roles in CIA: push captain, ass chair. (also fun fact, I joined because Rachel dragged me to stairs)

Future Plans: Software Engineer at Duolingo

Advice: Show up to stairs, even if they're painful and you feel like dying the whole time. It's a life-changing experience and you will grow to love it! Also, in general, show up to things even if it's not "your thing". You'll get to meet cool new people and experience new things and have a blast!

Favorite Memory: I'll miss complaining (very loudly) about rolls, bales, stairs, and push practice while secretly loving it all. Getting to experience all these with the awesomest people made the pain worth it! Also Impulse is a wonderful place to cry over broken code in.

Agent: Rachel Motz

Degree(s): BS Chemistry and Biological Chemistry, Minors in Cognitive Neuroscience and Chinese Studies

Roles in CIA: Driver for Emperor all four years! drove for Men's B (2018), Women's A (2018, 2019), and Men's A (2019, ~2021); Design chair for RD19, Head driver for RD20

Future Plans: PhD in Chemistry at MIT

Advice: Try fitting into a buggy even if you don't think you will - it could change your life, or at least increase your empathy for actual buggy drivers :)

Favorite Memory: Hiding under a space blanket tent with other drivers, freeroll, Raceday hype, people asking "you fit in there??"

Did you know that $20 is just enough to buy your sweetheart a 48-count box of Ferrero Rocher on Amazon? 💖 Or it can help you buy a box of tissues and rent the Notebook while you contemplate if a creature like you is even worthy of love...
.. well whatever you’re thinking of doing 😃 CIA is down to help you fund your Valentine’s Day plans by giving out $20 gift cards! All you have to do is show up at 8PM EST!!!

Hi everyone, we are starting our officially starting our F20 Recruitment Events for CIA buggy!

Anybody is welcome to join regardless of year, experience, or location. If you have no idea what buggy is or think you can’t push or drive, don’t worry! There are still so many other ways for you to be involved with CIA. Just ask us what pancaking is 🥞👀
We aren’t just a buggy team, but also a social org where you can meet new people and try out new experiences. You’ll find a calendar on this post with a list of events that range from academic support to random fun social events. We will of course continue to hold buggy-related sessions such as learning how to build a buggy and pusher workouts! Feel free to drop at any of these by using the QR code and meet the rest of the team ❤️ We will also be including a rewards program where you can receive FREE PRIZES such as Amazon giftcards and official CIA merch by coming to our events. Learn more by coming to our first event and tagging your friends in this post.

For the first time ever, we will also be offering a buddy system! We wanted to find a way to connect with you guys on a one-on-one basis instead of just having large zoom calls. Our buddies can act as career mentors and supply networking opportunities with alumni, or just be a great friend to have around. Here’s a form if you would be interested in participating: https://forms.gle/HFYFFbSPw1DSeMeS8
You are always more than welcome to ask me or any other CIA member any questions! Make sure to tag your friends in this post too. We hope to see you soon 😉
