This window is a perfect example of how NOT to install a window.
It wasn’t just missing flashing — it was installed directly to the studs and was completely dependent on the siding as the water barrier. That’s a major building science failure, because siding is not waterproofing. Siding is a rain screen at best, not the primary drainage plane.
In a proper wall assembly, the WRB (housewrap or membrane) is the actual drainage plane, and the window must be integrated into that system so water is directed back out of the building envelope.
In this case, any water that gets past the siding (which always happens through wind-driven rain, pressure differences, and capillary action) has a straight path into the framing. Worse, any water that hits the window frame and sheds downward has no flashing to kick it back outside, meaning it drains directly into the wall cavity.
A correct install follows a simple building science rule:
Assume water will get in — then design the wall so it can’t stay in.
The goals are always:
Control bulk water first (flash and shingle everything correctly).
Create a continuous drainage plane behind the cladding.
Layer redundancy so if one system fails, the next one still drains outward.
Direct water outward at every transition, especially at penetrations like windows and doors.
Without proper flashing and WRB integration, you’re not building a wall system — you’re building a moisture trap.

Solar is not a stand-alone project—at least not when it’s done right. The biggest mistake people make is treating solar as something you simply “add on.” When solar is designed as part of the structure, it can do far more than produce power. It can create shaded outdoor living space, protect materials below from weather, and turn otherwise unused areas into functional square footage. Done correctly, solar becomes both an energy system and a building upgrade, maximizing comfort, usability, and long-term return.

A little bit of before and after. Level 5 drywall finish. Smooth and clean. Trim matches precisely. The goal is always leave the house as clean as it was when we started even with drywall sanding and spraying paint. The goal is to leave the house functional every day when working on a home that is being lived in durring the improvements.

I’ve always believed that building isn’t just about walls, boxes, or equipment — it’s about people. Not everyone can afford the Taj Mahal, and that’s okay. What matters is creating something that truly serves our clients.

That’s why we always start with the budget and the customer’s needs. From there, we figure out the best way to make it work — spending the budget where it will count the most for the customer. Sometimes that means stainless steel, brand-new, high-end builds. Other times, it’s an imported box or even used equipment with a few upgrades. Either way, when we hand over the keys, our clients can save time, preserve food better, and succeed in their own businesses — and that makes it worth it.

We build walk-in freezers, fridges, saunas, steam rooms, and specialty spaces. We’ve also carried what we’ve learned into homes, building strong envelopes that manage moisture and temperature the right way.

Here’s the truth: we don’t cut corners. Sometimes that means we walk away with little or no profit, but I’d rather sleep at night knowing the project was done right. That’s the value we stand on — and it’s why we back our work with one of the strongest warranties out there:
🔹 5 years on commercial projects
🔹 10 years on residential projects

If you give us a chance, we won’t disappoint. This isn’t just business — it’s personal.

And even if you’re tackling a project yourself, already hired someone else, or it’s outside our area — feel free to call or text me. I’ll always make a few minutes to help however I can.
