Severe weather is no joke—especially when conditions are right for tornadoes. 🌪️ Your HVAC system is a major investment, so taking a few simple steps before and after the storm can help protect it (and avoid costly repairs later).
🔧 BEFORE THE STORM:
• Turn off your system at the thermostat to prevent damage from power surges
• Secure or bring in loose outdoor items that could hit your AC unit
• If possible, cover your outdoor unit with a breathable cover (never plastic wrap)
⚠️ AFTER THE STORM:
• Check your outdoor unit for debris, dents, or visible damage
• Clear away leaves, branches, and dirt buildup around the unit
• Wait to turn your system back on until you're sure there’s no damage
• If anything looks off—strange noises, reduced airflow, or no cooling—call a professional
Storms can roll through fast, but a little preparation goes a long way in keeping your home comfortable and your system protected.
