Did you know you can drop off compost and food waste at the Royal Oak Farmers Market? You can have a real, measurable, positive impact on the environment by composting food waste instead of throwing it away!
If food waste is disposed of in a landfill, it doesn’t break down, and instead creates additional greenhouse gases that lead to climate change.
Royal Oak has a program for all Royal Oakers to make a difference. Here’s the latest info on this program to help all Royal Oakers be more sustainable.

Food Waste & Organics Drop Off Program
Royal Oak offers free, residential food waste drop-off locations. This program is not to be confused with backyard compost practices and procedures.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
Register for the program
Know what materials can and cannot be disposed of
Collect food scraps in a container of your choice
Bring your container home, rinse, and repeat
LOCATION & HOURS:
Residential drop-off locations are open daily from dawn to dusk. You can bring your container of organic material to any of these locations and place the contents of your food scraps into the bright green, 64-gallon carts. The drop-off area and containers are marked with instructions.
