There isn’t a shortcut to becoming a pilot, but there are a few lessons that can make the journey smoother. 👇
Here are 7 that every student pilot should know:
1️⃣ Own your ground study. Your CFI is there to guide you, but most of your learning happens outside the cockpit.
2️⃣ Chair fly every lesson. Walk through your checklists, radio calls, and maneuvers before you fly. Mental rehearsal pays off.
3️⃣ Practice radio calls before you make them. Tools like ARSim by PlaneEnglish let you build confidence with realistic ATC scenarios, so you’re not figuring out what to say for the first time in the air.
4️⃣ Know your immediate action items. Critical emergency memory items should be second nature. Use your checklist to verify and complete the remaining procedures.
5️⃣ Don’t try to learn everything at once. Focus on mastering one concept before moving on to the next. Consistency beats cramming.
6️⃣ Recovery is part of training. Rest, take breaks, and avoid burnout. A tired brain doesn’t learn efficiently.
7️⃣ Treat flight training like a job. Show up prepared, stay disciplined, and build good habits early.
