Somebody has probably asked you this one: if you build solar for a living, is it really any cleaner than burning fossil fuels?

A reader sent that exact question to The New York Times this week, and climate reporter Brad Plumer walked through the research. Counting land use, mining, the whole picture, wind and solar still come out far ahead of fossil fuels on emissions and air pollution.

Some of our teammates clock more miles on two wheels than four.

After sponsoring riders since 2023, SOLV Energy is putting its own team on the road this September for the LoToJa Classic. A 200-mile relay from Logan, Utah to Jackson, Wyoming benefits We Care Solar.

Roster: Eli Mastin, Max Munoz, Brian Hoadley, Jordan Roerig, and Ryan Mckean, with Kevin Deters on backup.

Bike races, scholarships, jobsite volunteer shifts, food bank shifts. Culture at SOLV Energy shows up beyond the desk and the project site, in what people choose to do alongside the work.

We broke ground last week at Tormes Solar alongside Matrix Renewables, taking the project from contract to construction. At 457 MWdc, the site sits among the larger single-site PV builds in the Texas pipeline this year.

SOLV Energy is delivering with PV, substation, and SCADA/OTS, following our project with Matrix Renewables on Stillhouse Solar in Bell County.

About 450 local and regional jobs come along with the build, and the long-term tax revenue and landowner income stay in Navarro County for the life of the project.

SOLV Energy broke ground this week on Foxtail Flats and Four Mile Mesa in San Juan County, New Mexico, developed with DESRI

Combined scope of 394 MWdc across the site, with power flowing to Los Alamos County Utilities under long-term offtake agreements.

Construction begins now, with both sites coming online in the months ahead and SOLV delivering long-term operations in PV, BESS, and SCADA/OTS.

SOLV Energy broke ground this week on El Patrimonio, a new solar project in Bexar County, Texas, with Ashtrom Renewable Energy.

El Patrimonio is the first project SOLV Energy has built alongside Ashtrom. Construction wraps in 2027, with SOLV Energy's scope spanning construction, long-term operations, and community engagement along the way.

Last month, the El Patrimonio team spent a volunteer shift at the San Antonio Food Bank, packaging 9,265 meals. Each volunteer hour translates to a $25 credit through SOLV's Dollars for Doers program for nonprofit giving.

We're glad to be in Texas with Ashtrom on this one.
