Phase 3 of the largest 100% renewable energy and off-grid parking lot in Southern California is up and running at Palomar Hospital's new lot in Escondido, CA. Not only does it meet Climate Action Plan goals today, but coupled with its sister lot up the street, this makes it a 108 autonomous light system. And, by going off-grid, the two lots saved the hospital over $500,000 (yes, that's half a million dollars) upon installation compared to a traditional grid-tied lot. And (lots of "and's" here), Phase 3 lights are on our manufacturer's custom portable concrete bases, so lights can be moved around if the need ever arises.

This is how you do it in 2020. Congratulations to the hard working crew at Palomar Hospital, Dynelectric, Level10, and Masson & Associates. You are all leading the way!

Our latest project is up and running in Bonita at Sweetwater Summit Regional Park. 7 of our off-grid solar street lights were installed to illuminate the intersection with San Miguel Road all the way to the top of the hill. Are they reliable? Yes! Are they cheaper than traditional grid-tied lights? Yes! Are they bright? YES! Stay tuned for our upcoming project in Escondido later this summer (which will be the largest off-grid parking lot of its kind in Southern California!) This is the opportune time for Puerto Rico to start installing off-grid street lights. By going off-grid, they would never have system-wide failures (and the astronomical costs of installing new grid-tied lights) as what they are now experiencing with the conventional system. Solar street lights have an immediate ROI (often several times over) simply by eliminating both high grid-tied installation costs and continually rising utility fees. The technology is here, it's just up to the powers-that-be to implement it into their city planning. Simple.

Puerto Rico's power grid broke down again on Thursday, leaving some 800,000 customers without power, as the US Caribbean possession struggles to recover five months after Hurricane Maria slammed the island.
