California Solar

California Solar California Solar is a company based in 2037 on helping residents of The Golden State have access to affordable solar energy to help power their homes.

As California Solar reaches its objective of finding and providing affordable solar panels to customers, we can use our company as an approach to spreading the word of beingand becoming energy smart. Being a business in the solar energy efficient industry, we must do as we preach. Therefore, by our company using solar panels to provide electricty and using green products, we provide the clientelle

of an example of how to become solar efficient business. We would have proof of how much it saves while allowing us to help the environment. The energy innovation of using solar energy will benefit our company in many ways. As previously described, the solar panels that our company will use will provided electricity to many and encourage the use of “green” products. Although we understand that installing the solar panels may be a little pricey, in the end, the solar panels will pay for themselves. With just the energy by the sun, it will not only decrease electricity bills for many but it will also make our Earth a healthier place. Taking natural forces and using them to power homes and heat will eventually be better for the world which will also benefit our organization. Our organization, California Solar will benefit from this energy innovation because consumers will want the solar panels installed which will create revenue and jobs for our company. California Solar is 100% energy efficient. It does impact climate change and impacts natural resources in a positive direction. Since California Solar is a company distributing solar panels for all who can afford, it will reduce the amount of energy that is used for power and electricity. So when changing the climate, the pollution within the air will decrease along with electrical wires and all products that will not be in use once the solar panels are in effect. There are so many natural resources that are used while polluting the earth, and this all can be stopped once CaliforniaSolar distributes the solar panels to residents, factory owners and workers, and power industries. This will prevent increase in profit, while decreasing the pollution level. To begin, a social trend that we have been seeing in 2037 is that many of the people who were born between 2000 and 2015 are more environmentally conscience than those born before that. This is because the movement to be more environmentally aware was already in full effect from birth so it is what they grew up on and know, as opposed to the people born in the 90’s and earlier because they had to learn how to preserve the environment. Technologically, obviously everything has been improved to be more friendly and conservative to the environment to be less wasteful and renewable as possible. Policies for example include laws that require cars, modes of transportation, businesses and homes to have certain codes and energy saving technology. The trend of solar panels in California has been growing rapidly in the last few years. The state of California has started a campaign called Go Solar California. This is a joint campaign by the California Energy Commission and the California Public Utilities Commission. Their website provides all the necessary information about solar panels, including benefits, tax breaks, costs, and where to purchase them from. There are four basic steps to producing electricity from solar panels.
1. Light from the sun strikes the solar panels. In general, the brighter and more direct the sunlight, the more power will be produced. The best conditions for solar panels are when they face the sun directly and have no shade or other obstructions.
2. The solar panel converts sunlight into direct current (DC) power. Most solar panels have two layers of silicon. Particles of solar energy (photons) strike the top layer of silicon and free electrons from the molecular structure. These free electrons then move to the lower layer of silicon, where they are carried away by wires.
3. The inverter converts DC power into AC (alternating current). Solar panels, like common household batteries, create direct current power. This means that one wire will have a positive and the other has a negative charge. Most of our household electronics, however, use alternating current, in which each of the two wires switches rapidly between having a positive and a negative charge. In order to convert from one form to the other, the electricity is passed through a device called an inverter. It is a small box that can usually fit right beside the electrical meter on the side of the house.
4. Solar electricity is fed through the electric meter and into the property. At this point, the solar panels contribute directly to the electricity that the home uses. This electricity cannot be stored, so if more is generated by the solar panels than is needed, the power is sold back to the electric utility and the electric meter runs backwards. This effect is called net metering. Net metering tends to allow customers to offset their most expensive electricity. Most utilities charge either by the time of use or by a tiered system. In time of use policies, the more expensive time period is during the day, which happens to be when solar panels generate all of their power. Under tiered rates, net metering allows customers to sell back electricity from their highest, most expensive tiers first. Different states have different net metering policies. In general, the meter will run backwards only as far as it had already run forwards; in other words, it will never go past zero. Customers should not expect to get a check from the electric utility if they generate more solar energy in a month than the electricity that they use. Now that we have explored a little bit about what transportation will be like in 2037, let us now go more into depth on the topic and give some specific examples and plans. By 2040 we believe an innovation that will take over the automotive industry is energy storing body panels in electric cars. California Solar’s mission is to provide affordable solar energy alternatives for homes and consumers. By stressing the importance to children at a young age, you are bringing up a generation that will continue good energy practices. If the children are excited, their parents will be as well and it’s a great way to help them learn to make energy efficient choices while they are young. Being that the panels are reasonable prices and will cost cut for households, gives a huge incentive for homeowners. Previously, cost was a huge factor to why people didn’t want to use solar energy alternatives. However, with California Solar, they are able to afford the tools necessary to help energy efficiency. It’s simple, knowledge is power and that is why we engage the children so that are they grow they too will continue to use the same resources.

In being a PR agent for some time, Maria has frequently dealt with the technique of persuasion, or “the process in which a communicator attempts to induce a change in the belief, attitude, or behavior of another person or groups of persons through the transmission of a message in a context in which the persuade has some degree of free choice (Wilcox, Cameron, Reber, Shin, p.148)”. She knows that adults tend to have hostile opinions, where as their mind has already been made up about the ways that they want to use their energy. Due to this fact, her company believes that it is best to start educating the younger generations (k-12 students as well as college students) about solar energy. Young children’s minds are still developing, so their opinions will tend to be less hostile. Children and teens also hold decision making power over their parents, and can influence their purchasing power.(Wilcox, Cameron, Reber, Shin, p.210) Her goal is to educate children and young adults enough so that they can affect and hopefully even change their parent’s behavior.- Jenni

6. Are there equity issues with this energy innovation???

As for my energy innovation in the concern of the equity of issues is really important. I researched a lot of different resources that could help me understand the different issues that need to be resolved. Some of the finding were the new and up and coming inventions of solar power, along with already in place solar power. In our resource for Diverse Energy Eco-Zone 2037 was very helpful. I was able to find locate three websites. My first site was Fastcompany.com. As I read through the article I seen that equality is noted that city will be treated fairly. Along with the poorest city be helped out as much as possible. Within the article states, “ Befitting the Foundation’s focus on the world’s poorest and what it calls “smart globalization,” the report’s emphasis is on smartening up cities in the developing world--cities that lack both data about their swelling populations and the tools needed to make sense of it.” This a honest and true fact, trying to make thing better for all. –La Dayo

7. How does this energy innovation fit, or work with, the context of your energy zone?

This is a time of turmoil and instability for the people of Diverse Energy Eco-Zone 2037. The old energy infrastructure stopped being viable nearly twenty years ago, and people across the world suffered through years of blackouts, rising energy costs and severe economic depression. The American government responded to the energy crises by increasing regulations on a wide array of energy usage. Do to these factors, the poverty level of poverty in America soared and with it crime. People were crying out for a solution to the energy problem. This is where CaliforniaSolar came in.
Headquartered in the heart of the Eco-Valley, CaliforniaSolar was founded by leading renewable energy scientists after the formation of the Energy Hive in 2025, and quickly gained a reputation for providing people and businesses with an affordable path to energy independence. Not only has CaliforniaSolar continually provided the most advanced solar panels and energy solutions of the day at affordable prices, but it also donates its services to communities in need. It does this so that the people of America can regain the prosperity they once enjoyed - Chase
