After a year full of life events including college graduation, marriage, first job and moving to a new city, I am finally back. I have set up my workspace and have been busy with a lot of projects, both personnel and professional. Will start sharing things I have been working on.

One of my goals this winter break was to scratch build an electric go kart. I am happy to report that I was able to achieve this goal and built a robust go kart with a top speed of 60km/h. I faced a lot of challenges along the build process but was able to work through them. Design details to come shortly.

The autonomous robotics trifecta. A small ROS robot with Lidar, IMU, Camera and encoder motors. An all terrain rover with GPS, IMU, camera and 4wd closed loop drive. A jetracer with wide angle camera, jetson nano and traxxas rc base. Looking forward to developing on these robots in the future.

I am happy to announce that the Synchronous UV-C Disinfection System (SUDS) project that I have been working on as part of a multi-disciplinary team has released.

This was a huge collaborative effort between CWRU Sears thinkbox and medical researchers. It aims to solve the PPE supply shortage by disinfecting N95 masks in a more convenient and cost effective way.

This is an open-source project with everything needed to replicate the device available on our GitHub repository. I encourage the makers and manufacturers out there to make more of these for hospitals in your area so that we can keep our front line heroes safe.

I would like to thank everyone who was involved in this project and alumnus Miguel Zubizarreta, whose generous donation to establish a COVID rapid response fund made this (and many other projects) possible.

Almost a week later, I present the third finished prototype of the UV Sterilizer now officially named SUDS (Synchronous UVC Decontamination System). This ones features a sleek and clean design, improved UV-C performance and better thermal management. Initial testing has been very encouraging with output levels exceeding our testing thresholds. We have sent it for further validation using viral loads. Next step is to improve on the design and make changes based on testing for the forth prototype. We will have a design we can release along with a research paper and project video in the coming weeks.

It has been two more weeks and the second prototype for the UV-C Sterilizer is ready to sanitize N95 masks. This one features a static hook based design that will ensure a very high dose in minimal amount of time. It has integrated closed loop cooling and a variety of safety features. Next step is extensive testing and validation along with the third prototype that will be prepared to be deployed at a local healthcare facility. Stay tuned for further updates.

My jetracer (code name Wolfram) is complete in terms of hardware. I made a fully custom base to mount all the electronics in a neat and concise manner. I have installed the OS and tested hardware control. Next step is to dive deeper into the algorithms and train a model for autonomous driving.

Idea to first working prototype within a week. This has got to be my fastest prototyping pace ever. Done with the first prototype of the UVC N95 Mask Sterilization System. Next step is testing and validation, followed by second prototype. The end goal is to build a low cost and easy to use system for healthcare workers to sanitize their masks for reuse as they are in limited supply.

Project Cobalt - My ROS learning robot has seen some major upgrades since I last posted about it. I added a servo mount for the camera, added a Neato XV-11 Lidar, upgraded to encoder motors , better wheel and 18650 2s battery. I also wrote a comprehensive motor driver to interface the hardware with ROS. I also figured Arduino RPi serial communication after a lot of struggle. Now its time to implement localization. Will start with encoder odometery and build from there. Stay tuned

All the parts are here just in time for me to start working on building a JetRacer. Then goal is to implement autonomous driving based on a single camera using machine learning. Let's see how this goes. Will keep posting updates.

The raspberry pi learning robot is finally built and ready for some code to get it running. The build was the easy part, now I have to figure out serial communication, computer vision and control loops. Lets go.
