RAINWATER HARVESTING PROJECT STRENGTHENS WATER SECURITY IN BRAZILIAN AMAZON
During one of the Amazon’s most severe climate crises, REDE ASSA (Rede Água Segura e Saúde), with technical support from WEFTA (Water Engineers for the Americas & Africa), successfully installed 20 rainwater harvesting systems in Villa Olivença. Working alongside Caritas Parroquial São Paulo de Olivença and the local health unit, the project provided families with a reliable source of water for drinking and basic hygiene during a period of extreme drought.

The project achieved all planned goals, and its success has generated interest among nearby communities and farmers’ associations seeking to replicate the model as a sustainable solution to water scarcity.

WEFTA Field Update: Strengthening Rural Water Access Across Bolivia
WEFTA volunteer Jason Obergfell recently completed a month long visit to Bolivia, working alongside long time partner organization Suma Jayma to advance multiple rural water initiatives across the altiplano. The visit included assessments, community meetings, and the inauguration of recently completed projects—each highlighting the deep need for reliable water access and the strong local collaboration that makes WEFTA’s work possible.

Clean Water Brings Hope to West Ngambè-Tikar, Cameroon.
WEFTA, in partnership with Hope International for Tikar People (HITIP), the Center for Emergent Diplomacy, and the community of West Ngambè-Tikar, has successfully completed a new potable water project in the remote Centre Region of Cameroon.

The completion was celebrated with a community gathering and a “Clean Water for a Healthy Future” football tournament, promoting water, sanitation, and hygiene awareness while bringing residents together to celebrate this important achievement. This completed project provides safe water for over 1,200 people.
