The hardest part of leadership is being self-aware enough to know when it's time to let go. And it’s that time for us. We’ve made the hard call to close down Women in Tech Global. Starting this organization we set out to make a difference and, in many ways, we did. But the world changes, and sometimes, despite our best efforts, things don't go as planned. It's a big leadership lesson we’ve learned – sometimes you have to make hard choices, even when it feels like you're giving up a part of who you are.
It's been a journey filled with ups and downs, lots of learnings and lots of failures, but this decision was by far the hardest part.
During this time, life also happened. For the 4 years we’ve been around, 5 babies were born within our board while running the organization, and the vast majority of our core team is navigating the joys and challenges of raising small children. Balancing our commitment to Women in Tech Global and having lots of young moms on the team played a significant role in our decision to cease operations.
We want to make it clear that closing down doesn't mean giving up on our goals or values. It's just a change in direction. We're taking all we've learned and moving forward, ready to tackle new challenges with a fresh perspective and contributing to other organizations that share our mission.
A massive thank you to all the amazing women have been a part of our journey. Here's to new adventures and continuing to make a difference for women in tech, no matter where we are.
