Big changes are happening around here at Bontrager Industries HQ. It's been a lot of work but will be rewarding in the end. This move is going to make Bontrager Industries super efficient.
We're moving Bontrager Outdoors from leased space in Shipshewana to our own buildings in Bristol, Indiana to centralize that operation and all staff within close proximity to Skinny Guy Campers, High Ground Conversions, and High Ground Outfitters.
The process started back in May when we purchased land next door to expand in Bristol. Being a small, private company, you figure out pretty quickly how much big moves and related services cost. These items are worth the spend to get us to our end goal, which is to start trailer production in Bristol, Indiana on January 5, 2026.
With all this said, we've been able to rekindle relationships with old friends and have made new friends throughout the process. I wanted to take a moment to mention and thank several of those folks:
Thank you to Kubota Tractor Corporation and Stutzman Power Equipment (Middlebury) for making and selling such a power and effective skid steer (SVL 65-2) which is the perfect tool for this type of tree clearing work.
Thank you to my wife, Aimee Pensinger Bontrager for running the kids to all their activities in the evenings while I was busy working on the project.
Thank you to Fritz Family Trucking & Excavating, LLC for pushing down the big trees.
Thank you to our friend, Derrick Hendricks, for rallying all his wood burning stove/house heating friends to cut and clear the good logs. I can't even tell you how many loads they took, but they should be set for a couple of years with good wood to heat their homes!
Thank you to Boon at BAM Tree Service for grinding my stumps.
Thank you to Landon Hostetler for getting our land prepped for construction and for demo'ing the old house and barn on premises.
Thank you to our friends at Jimbo And Company Transport for lending us a trailer for transporting large metal work to our new plant.
Thank you to Jason Goss @ Nite Train Transport for helping us move the heaviest equipment this week.
Thank you to Luke and the team Hoosier Crane Service Company for getting our plant rigging set up.
Thank you to Wallace Electric for providing us with our electrical changes.
Lastly, thanks to Austin Bontrager, Jeremy Miltroka, Jason Ellinger, and Brian Sutton, and the rest of our team at Bontrager Industries for all the help with this project.π
