More than 200 types of interstitial lung diseases (ILD) share overlapping symptoms, which can make pulmonary fibrosis (PF) difficult to diagnose. This includes idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), the most common form of PF. Because lung scarring limits oxygen transfer, early recognition and expert care are essential. This , we stand with the PF community to raise awareness and ensure patients feel supported along their journey.

We’re honored that our subsidiary Lung Bioengineering was nominated for the Galien Foundation Inaugural 2026 Prix Galien Patient First Award in Honor of Michael J. Fox for their role in launching Lung Transplant Awareness Day ( ).​​

Lung Transplant Foundation, Wescoe Foundation for Pulmonary Fibrosis, and the Lung Transplant Collaborative created Lung Transplant Awareness Day to improve education and encourage earlier and more informed conversations among patients, caregivers, clinicians, and donor families regarding lung transplant options.​​

We recently celebrated the ribbon-cutting of our new Thomas E. Starzl Xenograft Production Facility in Stewartville, Minnesota! This Designated Pathogen Free (DPF) facility will produce our xenotransplantation kidneys and hearts for patients in dire need of these organs. The construction of this facility is a true feat of biotechnology engineering that will help us achieve our goal to help solve the organ shortage crisis.
