Aly Maggard from Richmond, Virginia, spent most of her life trying to lose weight and feeling like the world wasn’t built for her.
After da Vinci bariatric surgery in 2023, she was able to focus on building new habits. Aly is clear about the work involved: “There’s a stigma of this being the easy way out that couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s a lot of dedication and a whole life change.”
Now she’s building an active routine with Pilates, swimming, and rowing, and celebrating little wins. “It's sitting in an airplane seat and the belt being loose on me. It was putting on a pair of pants that I would have never dreamed fit me. It's all of those little wins that carry me through the day.”
