C and A Glass Art

C and A Glass Art Glass artist and painter from the Glass City, Toledo, Ohio. Creating hand-blown glass objects and vessels, and acrylic paintings using the sgraffito technique.

I was fascinated when I saw my first glassblowing demonstration in 1971 at the Toledo Museum of Art. In 2001 I took a weekend class in hot glass at the Toledo Area Glass Guild. I made two paperweights. In 2004-2005, I completed a thirty week training for glass blowing at the TMA, and began working as an independent glassblower in their hot shop. In 2013 I returned to the hot shop after nearly six years away from glass. I have been learning, growing, and enjoying hot glass ever since.

I use traditional glass blowing methods and several coloring and shaping techniques to produce a variety of finished glass vessels. I try to create unique color schemes in each vessel, and sometimes flatten or elongate vessels to create interesting variations of basic forms. I have been working on new color combinations and overlays to create different effects on the interior and exterior of each vessel. I also enjoy making glass paperweights, flowers, and ornaments in various sizes, shapes, and colors.
