Follow this Birmingham home from early site work through framing to the finished exterior, where steep gables, stone chimneys, and generous windows bring its character into focus.

Sunlight reveals the fine texture of the wall finish, while crisp window and door frames bring definition to the facade. Subtle borders outline the windows and door, and layered molding beneath the eaves adds depth to the roofline.

Along the terrace, metal railings with simple vertical lines frame views of the landscape beyond.

Built into the room, filled with life.

Painted bookshelves wrap the corner, with vertical paneling behind the shelves and crown molding carrying across the top. The woodwork becomes part of the room’s architecture, making space for well-read books, family photographs, and objects collected along the way.

A fresh face, with plenty of personality.

From the earlier exterior to the finished home, this film follows a change in rooflines, materials, and the way the entrance meets the street. A prominent front gable rises above the extended porch, where curved brackets soften the crisp white columns. Gray siding and blue shutters bring a cheerful contrast, with smaller details worth catching along the way.

Around back, a paved terrace brings the same easygoing character outdoors, with space for a table and chairs.

Take a look around, from front to back.

The cabinetry gives this bathroom its sense of order.

A central bank of drawers separates the two sink areas, with paneled doors and a continuous countertop tying the vanity together. Above, paired mirrors carry that rhythm upward, while warm metal finishes offer a gentle contrast to the painted woodwork.

A place to settle in and let the weekend begin without watching the clock.

The wood-lined ceiling draws the eye upward, its carefully fitted boards following the roof’s angles. Windows along two walls bring daylight and garden views into this welcoming room, just steps from the kitchen.

There’s something lovely to discover when you take a closer look.

Above the windows, a delicate pattern frames the pair of shaded sconces, while the striped fabric adds a softer touch. Through the doorway, a sunlit sitting room feels comfortably close, connecting the work of the kitchen with a place to pause.

We’re grateful to the many hands that brought these details together.

Seen from above, the relationship between the house and its setting comes into focus.

The front approach, roofline, terraces, pool, and surrounding landscape read as one connected composition. Each view reveals another part of the project, from the formal entry to the outdoor spaces at the rear of the home.

We are grateful to the collaborators whose work helped bring this project together.

A compact room, given the same attention as the larger spaces around it.

Dark wood cabinetry grounds the vanity, while a pale stone surface and vertically proportioned sconces keep the composition spare. The result is a quiet transition space with a clear material hierarchy.

A recessed ceiling field turns a simple overhead plane into a measured composition.

Diagonal boards converge along a central axis, creating a quiet chevron pattern within the surrounding white frame. Four recessed lights are set symmetrically within the panel, emphasizing the geometry rather than interrupting it.
