At Intrepid, one of our goals is to give engineers more hands-on experience with the tools they use every day through free classes and training.

Our next class, set for Wednesday, September 9th, covers gateway functions in Vehicle Spy. This course shows you how to use the drag-and-drop GUI application in Vehicle Spy Enterprise to create complex CAN and LIN gateway functions that you can program into the CoreMini in our hardware products.

The Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol has served as the backbone of in-vehicle communication since Bosch introduced it in the 1980s. It gives automakers a reliable way to link the growing number of electronic modules in today's cars and trucks.

To keep pace with that growth, more manufacturers are moving to Controller Area Network with Flexible Data-Rate (CAN FD), an extension that enables larger data payloads and faster data rates than standard CAN.

Intrepid is offering free CAN and CAN FD training on Thursday, September 10th, available online or in person at our headquarters in Troy, Michigan.

No matter how you join, the training covers everything you need to get up to speed with CAN. You'll learn about the physical layer, message structure, arbitration, and bit timing, then move into CAN FD and how it compares with standard CAN.
