🌟 FEATURE FRIDAYS 🌟

This week, we’re highlighting a company whose story is deeply woven into the fabric of Trumann, Arkansas: Roach Conveyors.

Founded in 1953 by Gay Roach, Sr. in Marked Tree, Arkansas, Roach Manufacturing began with a simple mission: designing and building specialized conveyor systems to move cotton through the Delta. What started as a solution for local agriculture eventually grew into one of America’s leading conveyor manufacturers, serving customers across North America while remaining firmly rooted in Northeast Arkansas.

Today, Roach Manufacturing is headquartered in Trumann, where generations of the Roach family have continued to grow the company while staying committed to the people and communities that helped build it. Their conveyor systems help power warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, and supply chains across the country, yet their greatest impact may still be felt right here at home.

One thing many people may not realize is that Roach is still a true Arkansas success story. While many manufacturers have moved operations elsewhere, Roach continues to design, engineer, and manufacture products right here in Northeast Arkansas, employing hundreds of people across the region and investing in communities that larger companies often overlook.

We’ve had the privilege of working alongside Mike Roach, Sr., Merritt Davis, and family through the years, including partnering with them as they began planning for the company’s next chapter of growth. What started as a conversation about the need for additional warehouse and distribution space quickly evolved into something much larger. Inspired by Mike’s visits to larger areas like Northwest Arkansas, the vision wasn’t simply to construct another industrial building, it was an opportunity to create a lasting impact in Trumann.

That vision ultimately became Steel Creek Development, where a 80,000 SF warehouse and distribution facility served as the catalyst for Trumann’s first lifestyle-focused, master-planned mixed-use development. What was once open farmland is now being transformed into a place where business growth, job creation, housing, recreation, and future investment can thrive together. It’s a powerful example of what can happen when a local family chooses to invest not only in their company, but in the future of their community.

A major part of that vision extended beyond Steel Creek Development itself. The Sunken Lands Trailway, set to transform connectivity, recreation, and quality of life across the region, was birthed from the momentum, vision, and investment of Steel Creek and the Roach family. It stands as another example of how their impact reaches far beyond business and into the long-term future of the community.

Much of that transformation also requires work most people never see. The leader of Haag Brown Commercial’s Industrial Division, Jeff Armstrong, has worked tirelessly alongside the Roach family on the infrastructure and behind-the-scenes development efforts that make projects like this possible, laying the groundwork that allows long-term growth to take shape in a meaningful and sustainable way.

In 2024, our very own Principal and Poinsett County native, Joshua Brown, had the honor of being present when Mike Roach, Sr. was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Trumann Chamber of Commerce Banquet. It was a fitting recognition for someone whose fingerprints can be found all over the growth and success of Trumann. Anyone who has spent time around Mike quickly realizes that his passion extends far beyond business. He genuinely loves his community and is constantly looking for ways to help it thrive.

"A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they shall never sit."

"Mike is leading a family who is planting many good trees in their community, and I am proud to be his friend and a part of the work they are doing in Trumann." — Joshua Brown, Principal, Haag Brown Commercial

In many ways, Trumann is fortunate to have the Roach family just as Bentonville is fortunate to have the Walton family. When local leaders choose to reinvest in the communities that raised them, the entire region benefits.

Accumulation conveyors help manage product flow between upstream and downstream operations. Proper accumulation can support staging, sorting, packing, and shipping activities while maintaining controlled product movement.

In trailer loading applications, accumulation zones can help keep products moving even when loading conditions change. The ATL | Accumulating Powered Roller Truckloader, utilizes photoeye-controlled accumulation zones that allow cartons to accumulate while upstream conveyors continue operating, helping reduce congestion and support efficient loading processes.

Not every package handling operation fits inside a standard conveyor layout. As facilities grow, workflows change, and throughput demands increase, flexibility becomes critical.

The MCS Modular Connect System was designed to adapt. With plug-and-play electrical components, quick-deploy modular sections, and configurations that include straights, curves, skews, herringbones, and inclines, MCS makes it easier to build a conveyor system around the application. Not force the application around the conveyor.

Application-Driven conveyor design starts with a system build to adapt.

Pallet handling is a critical part of many manufacturing and distribution operations, but it can quickly become a bottleneck when pallets need to be separated, conveyed, and routed throughout a facility. Manual handling not only consumes valuable labor resources, but it can also slow production and create safety concerns.

This integrated pallet handling solution is designed to keep operations moving efficiently. The process begins with a pallet destacker, which automatically separates stacked pallets and feeds them into the system one at a time. From there, a chain drag conveyor provides dependable transportation of palletized loads through the facility. When a change in direction is required, a turntable smoothly rotates the load to align with downstream equipment and optimize facility layout.

By combining these solutions into a single automated workflow, facilities can reduce manual intervention, improve throughput, and maintain consistent product flow from one stage of the operation to the next. Whether supporting manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution applications, automated pallet handling helps create a safer, more productive operation.
