Another common application for the 4D InSpec are fir tree edge break measurements, similar to chamfer holes. Rather than use precious time to make a casting of that fir tree surface, itโ€™s so much faster to point and click with the handheld 4D InSpec.

With a 45-degree angle and perpendicular positioning of the instrument, we can quickly capture this data. The live video provides a green colored indication when a measurement is ready to be captured then analyzed, making the process seamless and user friendly.

To measure in chamfer holes, the 4D InSpec is our go-to system to achieve this data. Watch how easy it is to line up the emitted light and with a click of a button, capture the intended data. While in-use, the live video feed is visible to ensure the area of interest is captured in the field of view.

Then through the analysis software, the 3D measurement is ready for review.

Developed in conjunction with leading aerospace and aviation engine manufacturers, the 4Di InSpec automated metrology system (AMS) combines a 4D InSpec sensor with a collaborative robot to dramatically improve throughput.

For a complex part with more than 50 measurement callouts, it can reduce measurement cycle time to less than 10 minutes from upwards of 12 hours using manual inspection.

Aircraft and aerospace engine components may have dozens of critical specifications for chamfers, edge break, and rounding, to prevent crack propagation or to produce tight fit and seal. Measuring these difficult to access areas is made simple through our automated system.

Curved surfaces can be difficult to measure, requiring perpendicular stylus alignment. The 4D InSpec solves these challenges with ease. It quickly captures measurements from curved parts, with a point-and-click capture. On the measurement plot, click and drag a profile line, and the curve radius is calculated in real-time as you draw.

Users can measure right at the part, in hard-to-reach surfaces with the portable 3D non-destructive testing (NDT) surface gauge.
