Extension cords are designed for temporary use, not as a permanent power source.
Use an outdoor-rated extension cord for short-term needs like yardwork, holiday decorations or a temporary outdoor project.

If you regularly use an extension cord in the same location for patio lights, tools, equipment or appliances, it may be time to install an outlet.

Your electrical system should operate quietly. If you hear any of these sounds, it may be time to call an electrician:
Buzzing from an outlet, switch or electrical panel
Crackling or sizzling inside a wall
Popping or snapping when using a switch
Repeated clicking from the electrical panel
Humming that suddenly becomes louder
Electrical arcing or sparking sounds

These noises may indicate a loose connection, damaged wiring, overloaded circuit or failing electrical component.

If you hear crackling, sizzling or popping, stop using the affected outlet or switch. If it is safe to do so, turn off the circuit and contact Arrow Electric.
