Peripheral Sound

Peripheral Sound We specialize in live sound for bands who are just dipping their toes into the waters of live performance and in on-site multitrack recording.

I've been a musician for over 30 years and played in a number of different bands since returning to live performance in 2007. I've become the guy who invested in the PA to make everyone else's life easier (and wallets heavier) as well as the guy who has to mix from stage while trying to perform, not an easy task. When not performing in my band, I was often asked to provide sound reinforcement for

friends and I found that I really enjoyed working with performers who are just starting out and need more than just an engineer and want some guidance to performing live. There are plenty of great sound companies out there that can handle your band but for new bands consisting of young or old musicians, affordable sound is genreally out of the question. Peripheral Sound was formed to give those bands access to working with a semiprofessional sound system. Instead of having a band member try to mix while performing, we can do that for you at a reasonable cost. Additionally, we offer on-site multitrack recording as part of a live sound gig or in cooperation with your regular sound company. Our main mixing rig is a Mackie DL32R which can record up to 32 individual tracks on a hard drive. My recordings of Northeast Ohio country bands Post Road and Backroads have recently been played on WQMX as part of their Homegrown Artist of the Week program.

Our Story

Simple sound solutions are what Peripheral Sound is all about. Peripheral Sound was formed to give newly formed bands or “weekend warrior” musicians affordable access to working with a professional sound system. Instead of having a band member try to mix while performing, we can do that for you at a reasonable cost. As a performing musician for over 35 years, I know from experience how the sound engineer can make or break a gig for a band. Most sound companies are more concerned with the sounds the audience is hearing with the sounds the musicians are hearing on stage as almost an afterthought. We focus first on making sure the musicians on stage can clearly hear themselves in the monitor mixes so that the performance coming out of the front-of-house system is the band at its best. Additionally, we offer on-site multi-track recording as part of a live sound gig. Our main mixing rig is a Mackie DL32R which can record up to 32 individual tracks on a hard drive. Bands can use the mixed down multi-tracks of their live performance and for professional sounding audio clips to add to a media kit or website.

For small festivals or events with live music, many sound companies will charge you for a sound system that is probably larger than your event really needs. If live music is simply part of your event (indoors or outdoors) and not the complete focus of it, we are your affordable solution so that the music doesn’t overpower your event. The last thing we want to hear from an event organizer is “turn it down.”

If you feel like we can meet your audio needs, please do not hesitate to contact us. Peripheral Sound. Simple sound solutions.
