Alright, East Texas - We need some ideas!

This is the existing deck at Our Harbor of Hope. It sits right outside their activities building overlooking a beautiful pond, but the deck itself… could definitely use some help 😂

We’re going to change that.

Since we’re rebuilding it through our Deck at Cost project, I want to hear what YOU would do with this space.

More seating? A bigger gathering area? Built-in benches? Different levels? Something completely different?

Had the opportunity to join Anna Luz with Our Harbor of Hope on KETK with Tori Bean to talk about our Deck at Cost project!

When we started this giveaway, the goal was simply to find a local family where we could use what we do to make a difference. After learning more about Our Harbor of Hope and the work they do for families going through difficult times, I knew we picked the right place.

We’re excited to get this project underway and build them a space they can enjoy for years to come.

Wood or composite? There’s no one-size-fits-all answer.

Composite costs more upfront but gives you less maintenance. Treated wood can still make a great-looking deck at a lower initial cost.

The right choice comes down to your budget, the look you want and how much maintenance you want to deal with.

You don’t have to have your entire deck figured out before you call a builder.

Start with the important part: How do you want to use the space?

Grilling? Entertaining? A place to relax after work? Room for the whole family?

Once we know what you want the space to do, we can work backward and figure out the size, layout, materials, railing, stairs, and all the details that make sense for you.

That old deck might not need to be completely torn down.

If the framing underneath is still solid, we may be able to reuse it and replace the worn-out decking and railing, potentially saving you a good chunk of money.

Before you replace the whole thing, let us take a look. 🔨

🎉 We Have a Winner!

This was our official announcement for the winner of our Deck Oasis deck promotion!

We’re excited to partner with Our Harbor of Hope Foundation and give their existing deck a much-needed transformation. They do incredible work in our community, and we’re proud to have the opportunity to give back through what we do best.

We’ll be following the entire project right here on this page, from the existing deck and planning process to construction and the final reveal.

The cheapest quote isn’t always the cheapest option in the long run.

The parts of your deck you DON’T see matter just as much as the parts you do. Proper framing, footings, flashing and fasteners can make the difference between a deck that lasts and one you’re repairing a few years later.
