The Pearl River County Sheriff's Department wants to remind everyone that WE WILL NEVER CALL YOU TO REQUEST MONEY FOR ANY REASON!

We have received reports of numerous types of scams often involving the alleged security of your finances, bank account(s), or virus protection services. Some scammers even claim to be law enforcement or government entities and often target retired and/or elderly members of our community.

If you receive a call claiming to be from us, demanding payment, or threatening legal action, it’s a scam.
Do not provide personal information, bank details, or payment. If you are directed to liquidate or convert your finances to “bitcoin”, gold, “Greendot” card, or other form of currency to be transferred to them or to a courier, then it too is likely to be a scam.

If the entity claims money was accidentally transferred to your account and asks you to make a withdrawal or transfer the funds to them, then it also is likely part of a larger scam.

If you’re unsure, hang up and call our official number directly to verify. Stay vigilant and share this with your friends and family to help spread the word!
