“A Scheduling Conflict You Don’t Hear Every Day”

Every now and then, something happens at 7K Mechanical that makes us stop and smile — one of those reminders that our customers are truly one of a kind.

The other day, one of our regular customers sent us a message asking to reschedule his appointment. Nothing unusual about that… until he mentioned the reason. He said he had “an unexpected visit to the White House.”

Now, we’ve had customers cancel for all kinds of reasons — kids’ ballgames, doctor appointments, the occasional fishing trip — but this one definitely takes the cake.

When he called back later, he was laughing and said, “I don’t like to miss appointments, so I figured I’d better name drop big.” We both got a good chuckle out of that.

As it turns out, this wasn’t just any trip to D.C. The gentleman is a retired Major General and a Medal of Honor recipient, invited to the White House to witness the signing of some important veteran-related bills.

We’re proud to serve folks from all walks of life, but it’s not every day we have to reschedule an air conditioning tune-up because duty calls at the White House. It was a good reminder that behind every appointment on our schedule is a story worth knowing — and sometimes, a little piece of American history, too.

This air conditioner had a contactor that was burned up, which was not supplying power to the unit. After replacing the contactor, our technician noticed that some of the electrical conduits going to the machine were broken and in need of some repairs in order to prevent the wires from running through.
