We’re grateful for everything all the engineers across Barrett Paving who help us proudly and safely “Build the Roads You Travel!”
Our National Engineers Week spotlights for today are two dedicated engineers from Barrett Industries . Through problem‑solving, innovation, and a commitment to community impact, these engineers help deliver infrastructure that makes a difference every day.
Danielle Ermis | Estimator/Project Administrator
Danielle’s interest in engineering began early, driven by a curiosity for how things are built and how they work. “I found enjoyment in building things,” she shared, a mindset that continues to shape her approach today. In her role, Danielle focuses on estimating and project administration, helping teams plan and navigate challenges during construction. One of the most meaningful aspects of her work is seeing the results firsthand. “The ‘why’ really is a daily occurrence when myself or friends and family drive the roads we build or resurface,” she explained. Danielle takes pride in knowing her work supports public infrastructure used by nearly everyone in her community — a responsibility she carries with care and purpose.
Wess Kroll | Senior Estimator
For Wess, engineering started with a fascination for numbers and understanding why things cost what they do. That analytical mindset led him into engineering and continues to guide his work today. At Colas, Wess focuses on procuring profitable, well‑planned work that keeps crews, plants, and quarries moving efficiently. One defining moment came while managing a major roadway upgrade, where his team proposed a value‑engineering solution that significantly reduced time, cost, and disruption. “Walking out of the presentation with full buy‑in from the owner was my first ‘This is why I do this!’ moment,” he shared. What motivates Wess most is impact — knowing his work improves public safety, reduces travel stress, and helps communities function more reliably every day.
Both Danielle and Wess are driven by the same belief: engineering is about creating solutions that people rely on every day. It’s a point of great pride for the Colas family to have engineers so deeply committed to delivering meaningful, lasting impact.
