Portsmouth STEM Academy is a Chartered Nonpublic K-12 school.

We offer a robust curriculum in science, technology, engineering, and math. Environment:
We believe children deserve a learning center focused on their intellectual, emotional, and physical needs, not those of adults. Schools should be exciting worlds of exploration, guiding students through what they need to know, and encouraging them to excel in the realms that most appeal to them individually.

We believe in learning by coaching, hands-on practice, and experimentation. Structure:
We provide a collaborative, open-classroom environment, with learning groups based on student achievement levels within each course of study. Every student should work at their level of understanding, whether above or below their grade in different content areas. We foster student collaboration and mentorship through long-term group projects and student-led activities. Academic Calendar:
We operate on a year-round trimester, coinciding with the Shawnee State University academic calendar. Fall and Winter trimesters are supplemented with a unique and fun Summer trimester that blends enrichment and special projects, including transportation to and from age-appropriate sports, music, fine and performing arts, science fair projects, tech camps, and more. Each trimester is separated by a 3-week intersession break. Non-Discrimination Policy:

🚨 IT’S HERE!
Say hello to our brand-new Mini Manager Program—where local kids get to take over the shop (yes, really).
🚨 APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN for our very first Mini Manager! 🍪
APPLICATION IS FOR ONE CHILD ONLY, please fill out a separate application for each child that applies.
This program was created to give local kids a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to run a small business — while also creating sweet memories and giving back to our community. 💜
Our Mini Managers will help “run” the bakery for the day by:
✨ choosing a fun theme for the day
✨ helping plan the menu and special treats
✨ helping decide what products and supplies we need for their day
✨ strategizing and social media for the event
✨ greeting customers
✨ helping package orders
✨ learning how a small business operates
✨ helping create a welcoming atmosphere in the shop
✨ and most importantly… spreading joy in our community
As someone who grew up around small businesses, supporting future entrepreneurs is something incredibly important to me. I want kids to feel encouraged, creative, confident, and inspired — and maybe even discover dreams they didn’t know they had yet.
If your child is between 5–15 and would love this experience, we’d love for you to apply!

Shawnee State Cub Camp offers a variety of camp courses such as Pre-Kindergarten (students going in to Kindergarten), Kindergarten (prep-for 1st grade), Tie-Dye, Cheerleading, Ceramics, Game Design, First Aid... and so much more! We encourage STEM students (and all students in our community) to get involved! This is an amazing opportunity for kids Pre-Kindergarten - 8th grade!

Shawnee State University is hosting “Ready! Set! Kindergarten!” for students entering Kindergarten during the 2026–2027 school year.

This is a FREE Kindergarten Readiness Camp designed to help prepare young learners for a successful start to Kindergarten!
