From Wall Street Journal Today: Baker-Hughes Rig Count for week ended April 7
The number of rigs drilling for oil in the U.S. rose by 10 last week to 662. After peaking at 1,609 in October 2014, low oil prices put downward pressure on production and the rig count has receded. However, the oil-rig count has generally been rising since the summer. The number of oil rigs has climbed by 300 from a year ago.

From TheStreet.com: U.S. oil and natural gas producers continue to ramp drilling activity as Baker Hughes (BHI) reported Friday that 15 rigs came online over the past week, bringing the Houston oilfield services provider's tally to 824 units.

Baker Hughes' oil rig count climbed 10 to 662, while the natural gas count grew by five to 160 overall.

From Wall Street Journal this morning:
Baker Hughes Rig Count
The number of active oil rigs in the U.S. has risen eight-straight weeks, as of a week ago hitting an 18-month high of 617. That's still 1,000 less than the level in October 2014, just when the oil boom was ending. But the rig count has nearly doubled since May.

From Bloomberg: Baker-Hughes Rig Count
The U.S. adds 7 oil rigs to active-duty status, bringing the total to 609, its highest level since October 2015, according to Baker Hughes. By region, south Texas's Eagle Ford leads the way with 5 new oil rigs for a total of 64, while the hot-ticket Permian Basin of west Texas adds just 2 oil rigs to 308. The number of "horizontal" oil and gas rigs -- which are on the uptrend due to shale -- rose by 9 last week for a total of 633. Natural gas rigs overall fell by 5 to 146.
