Gearheads Workshop Gearheads Workhops, a makerspace & community motorcycle garage. A place to learn, make & fix. Classes are hands on and comes with all necessary tools.

ENROLL in a class today where YOU can learn how to wrench and learn how to make your own motorcycle repairs. IMAGINE a space where you can come in to learn, work on passion projects of your own or repair/upgrade parts on your own motorcycle. GEARHEADS WORKSHOPS is it! We have all the tools and technical know-how to make your dreams come true. Gearheads Workshops ( mechanics ) are dedicated to help

everyone ride a reliable and safe bike while saving on repair costs. If you have ever wanted to be able to perform your own repairs on your bike here is your chance to learn from a experienced mechanic in the field. With a small investment in this course/workshop and a few tools, you will be able to perform the bulk of the scheduled (and unscheduled) repairs to your bike or scooter. The workshops are focused to slice up the systems on your bike and to make each element clearly understandable. Even the most tech averse among you will develop an understanding because unlike a book or manual I can answer your questions on the spot. You will ride a safer and more reliable bike or scooter because you have a clear understanding of how each system works and what could potentially make it deficient. Yes you will learn how to inspect and diagnose problems before they turn into an inconvenient break down many miles away from your home. If you are shopping for a new used bike this workshop can teach you how to evaluate potential candidates for your hard earned money. If all you do is stand in awe of this bike you will be taking over the repair payments that the previous owner should have paid that are now going to be picked up by you. If you are forewarned about problems then you can bargain the price down in good faith and get a real deal and fix it yourself at a much lower cost. You can do just as good a job as a dealer albeit much slower in the beginning but at $0.00 per hour as opposed to $90 per hour. Plus you can get it done with a quicker turn around because you are your only customer. Plus the customer service of you will be great because no one love you more than you :o) Some come on what are you waiting for? You can do this and learn a life long skill to fix anything that burns gas. We also offer a DIY garage and fablab (makerspace) for doing custom work with supporting classes in welding, wood working and machine shop.

We recently trained someone special on how to Mig weld for an art project. It was Miranda Cosgrove who is preparing for her role as a metal artist for an upcoming romcom for Netlix titled The Wrong Paris. In her role as an artist she need to be able to perform welding in front of the camera and wanted to be acquainted with the process first hand. Miranda in a few hours of coaching transformed herself to be "Miranda the Welder" a wink to Rosie the Riveter of yesterday.

We wish her the best of luck in her new project and perhaps her new hobby.

TIG Welding Made Easier.

Tungsten Inert Gas welding or TIG for short is welding in the slow lane. From your motorcycle frame to the International Space Station anytime human life is at stake or if aesthetics are important or both, you break out your TIG welder.

It is a bit harder to master but believe me it is worth putting the effort in for what you get in return. I guide you through the process so you can get comfortable working in a whole different world than you're used to where it can be hard to see and you tend to wield the tool with a heavy hand. As your personal trainer I can catch what you are doing wrong and break any bad habit before they become bad habits. You'll be TIG welding steel by the end of the day.

This workshop introduces you to the equipment and process and techniques for welding metals the TIG way. Though you can weld mild steel with a TIG welder it is mainly used to weld reactive metals like Aluminum or high chromium metals such as stainless steel. This process yields welds with more consistent heat pe*******on, higher quality welds . To be successful you need to understand the variables and how to set up the machine and the task. When trying to learn by yourself or through Youtube you can end up being stuck in an endless loop by reinforcing bad techniques or poor set ups. With guided instruction to keep you on track you are able to achieve better more repeatable results, in less time. The effort is well worth it with the quality and strength of the welds.

You can use the TIG process to do repairs on your bike where appearance is as important as strength. You can use it to fabricate art, furniture, movie props and DIY car restoration enthusiasts. Some of my students took the class to make their micro breweries, the possibilities are endless. You can then weld the segments together, grind and polish the welds and make them disappear. But that will take a bit of time and practice but the process is only limited by the imagination.

Is it possible to learn the Tig welding process in only one day? It is possible to learn the fundamentals of the basic hand techniques with this intense one on one instruction which you simply won't get at a trade school with over 30 students. By getting observed direct feedback as to what you are doing wrong can you get on a path to consistency that over time will lead to a higher skill level.

After the intro you are welcome to come into the shop for open practice time without supervision. We have hourly and monthly memberships to fit all budgets. In this way you can build your skills very quickly.

You will be working on state of the art inverter welders. As part of the class I will also offering live reviews of some of the best imported and affordable inverter welders on the market. The class will also be a live review of welders and gear. You get to try before you buy to see what suits you. The right gear can lower the learning curve.

Tuition for the class is $275 which includes materials, supplies and all equipment. I will provide helmets, jackets, gloves and tools.

About the instructor:I learned the craft in trade school and went into the service where I worked as a fabricator and learned knew skills and machinery. I have been blessed to be exposed to a number of trades and over the 25 years I have worked as a prop fabricator for the film industry continuing to hone my MIG and TIG skills. This is one of the best and most useful skills I have ever learned and it will serve you for your entire life.

Putting in the finishing touches on our new welding tables. I am using pallet racks which are relatively inexpensive but come in a number of sizes and can handle a great deal of weight. They make it easy to install lighting over the work area and a nice shadow board in the back for hanging tools (Amazon: Wall control).

The table itself is made from 1" x 4" rectangular tubing (heavy wall) and they are spaced to allow clamps to help position your project for welding. Steel prices are crazy right now and this is an affordable way to do it and it is flat due to the wall thickness of the tube.

I am making a total of 3 of these tables for the classes and members. Will post more photo's once they are complete.
