Another ship loses containers in heavy weather. Was it inadequate tiedowns, wrong place at the wrong time, or combination of both factors? In any event, there are 46 empty, and presumably floating, containers in the Atlantic posing a hazard to navigation. Cargo losses with heavy weather as contributing factor are occurring too frequently in the technology age of automation bringing weather data to the fingertips of decision makers. Oftentimes, it incorrectly interpreting weather data, forecasts, and effects on operations that results in risky decisions.
