Kristian Nickol Construction is a sole proprietorship, owned, managed, and operated by me, Kristian Nickol. I am registered with the State of Montana as a subcontractor, am workman's compensation exempt, and carry $500,000 in general liability insurance for my customer's, and my, peace of mind. My scope of work includes nearly anything in residential construction, from foundations through finish w

ork. My body of work most often includes, framing (additions, garages, remodels, repairs, decks), siding (new construction as well as renovations) roofing (new or hail/wind/age replacements) soffit and fascia (metal/hardi/MDF/composite systems) painting (interior/exterior) drywall (hanging/finishing), and interior trim-out (hanging doors, casing, base trim, mantels, tile, etc). Write me at the email address listed on this page. I try to work alone on most of my projects, as it allows me to keep my pricing very competitive as well as allows me more freedom in my work schedule. Because of this, I can ensure my quality of work and also very accurately estimater the time needed to accomplish a job.

This may be the least forgiving exterior texture and paint color combination, I’ve ever worked on and had the pleasure of conquering. But once perfected, it’s apparent.

Custom siding is so enjoyable; the principles and concepts are the same, but different materials and methods are always engaging to discover and perfect during the process. Real port Orford cedar soffit and siding are very appealing in both visual and olfactory, senses.

This one shows a bit better the details of the frame/deck/window and door package. Neat home, great location, and precise but easy going clients. It’s been a pleasure this far!

Building a home for a tech savvy client, has many benefits; an unforeseen one is the great drone footage content they share with me, especially considering how lax I am about taking glamour shots of my work!

Framed, flatwork complete, and roof dried in, this home is designed in house by myself, and pre sold, but could build it again, by request! Starting in the mid 300s with 3 stall garage, loft upper story, and unfinished basement. Total square footage possible, completely finished: ~3200. Garage is oversized, 32’x28’ with 10’ walls and 9’ tall OH doors.

The bonus room, within trusses and over the garage, is a well lit room, with south exposure and sloped ceilings. It does have a full walk in closet, and egress window, so could be turned into a bedroom if one if the kids grows tired of their intended digs. Initially it will be used for guests, and hobbies or crafts for Kate and the kids. It’s also a great place for children to play and “bounce off the walls” (in addition to the basement), being over the garage, there’s no noise traveling into main floor living area ceilings. It’s also a good excuse to fully insulate and drywall the garage, as firewall, and for winter vehicle comfort.

Upstairs: Laundry. Assembled a butcher block enclosure, for the washer and dryer, which looks neat and gives a nice large basket shelf. Sink and faucet are absolutely necessary for us to pre soak stained kids clothes. A lower Height folding counter was a special request as well as the fancy star ceiling fixture, for my wife who loves those celestial bodies. A casement window for fresh air and bright natural southern exposure light, makes this a comfy spot to do daily grind chores. (I’ve always felt sort of bad about the size of our current laundry room, it works but it’s tight. I may have overcompensated slightly here😆)

The final area on the main floor is (a difficult to photograph) 2 story foyer which one enters from the front deck, via Doug fir door. Alder newel posts, rail, and balusters lead up LVP treads to our second story, which has master en suite, laundry, 2 bedrooms, spare bathroom, and bonus room over garage, as well as some storage. Our youngest children’s rooms will be up there and so the stairs and rail needed to be durable as well as fit with the aesthetic, which is why we didn’t use steel balusters. I haven’t highlighted the door levers Kate found for this house, but they are square tubular handles with square bases. Go quite nicely I think. Also, another funky chandelier.

Our only main floor bathroom, with mosaic tile floor, wall mount hand wash sink, facilities will be used the most by guests and us, too. Due to this, we designed (location and size) it to be semi private as well as pleasing to experience, with window, unique flooring, and solid core wood door, which is positioned at the end of our wood bench seat and cubbies, separate from rest of main floor.

The final room, comprising the Great room: living room.

Another exposed timber (just above this framed top edge; I’ve got to get a better photographer 😃) helps create a distinct space, without closing it of from kitchen, which is directly behind me as I face the fireplace. 4 led cans and a three globe center fixture, will light it when the sun goes down and the 80 sf of windows can’t anymore. Solid Doug Fir barn door leads to our main floor study/office and the open size and shape of this room allows for many couch/chair arrangements. Doug fir mantle completes the painted fir block fireplace wall. Gas fireplace for warm winter fellowship ambience.
