The most under appreciated room of the house? THE LAUNDRY ROOM/MUDROOM. Just finished the cabinets and it’s really coming together at the . Making this room more accessible, functional and cheery will make the most monotonous tasks a little bit better. And anyone with kids can testify how much time is spent here.

Let’s light this place up! One of the biggest changes you can do in a remodel is lighting. And I’m a carpenter! That’s saying something. Breathing new life into this dark and dreary 1970’s home. What a difference.

Started our last week. The ice maker on the fridge broke and flooded the kitchen, so why not upgrade the entire house 👍. First thing we did was fix some plumbing issues and a new water shut off for the house 💧. Now time to take down some walls to let in the beautiful natural light into the rest of the house and add a walk in pantry in the newly designed custom kitchen. This part of the process isn’t glamorous, but putting in the time now will yield better results.

Insulating with closed cell foam 3” in the roof and 1.5 in the walls to create air tightness and a bomb proof structure. Then finished it off with fiberglass to bring our r-value above code. The inspector had a hard time wrapping his head around it and never seen it done like that. Thats why it’s a good thing to shop for the right contractor, not the right price. Thinking outside the box and willing to build beyond the “common practice” is the good thing. Building codes are the minimum, and 10 years from now what is build to code will most likely be out dated.
