The last few months has been quite a season...one where l’ve worked too much, and had to be out of town far more than I would like; and you have been home holding us all together in the chaos. You don’t see it, because I don’t say it nearly often enough, but you are the reason our house feels like home, you are the reason our kids feel safe, you are the reason we all want to be home rather than anywhere else. You deserve to feel our gratitude daily, and to experience for yourself the peace your husband and children find in you. I love you more than you could imagine! Happy birthday .lawson!!!

A classic game, recast in stone.

Our Concrete Mancala Board is a sculptural reinterpretation of one of the world’s oldest strategy games. Hand-poured in small batches at our North Carolina studio, this board blends clean, modern lines with the earthy permanence of architectural concrete.

Every board features twelve evenly spaced game pockets and two end wells, polished to a soft touch and sealed for long-term durability. It’s both a functional game and a minimalist centerpiece—perfect for quiet evenings, thoughtful gifting, or passing down through generations.

Choose from Emerald, Sand, Terra Cotta, Pewter, and Black. Concrete stones included of assorted complimentary colors included.

Loved this project. It was great to get to work with Navi Miami again. We helped build their coffee bar and now we got to build them this portable coffee cart. It will host a fridge, espresso machine and a point of sale all while being able to break down and be portable and moved to their next event to sell some great coffee! It has oak cabinets, concrete corners and countertop and a beautiful led light up oak front panel. If you are interested in one of these for your home or shop, we can customize these to fit any need and desire. Hit us up!

It really is hard to put into adequate words how much you mean to us. The grace with which you take care of all 4 of us (yes, I know I’m your fourth child) is something to marvel at.

Not only do you take care of our family, but your selflessness extends so far beyond that - diving deep into keeping our town spirit alive through Miss Labor Day, throwing your whole heart (to the sound of my all too many complaints) into PTO at the boys’ school, and making sure our home is welcoming weekly to our small group. You are a gift to everyone around you, and I’m beyond grateful to call you mine. Our boys are the luckiest kids on earth to have you as their mama. I love you with all my heart .lawson! This year was going much like any other until September.

That said, I have been more stressed this year than in many years past, and I can’t quite put my finger on why, but suffice it to say, I think I’ve been unsure of what direction I wanted to take Lawson Design. I coveted more time with my family, more time at home, and more time to invest in my rapidly growing children - but I didn’t know how. I felt somewhat tied to my studio, struggling with how to transition from working “in” the business to working “on” the business, and feeling a tremendous sense of guilt when I would try to do so; not wanting to leave my incredible team to fend for themselves. I know I’m the business owner, and I know I’m sometimes the bottleneck to our efficiency. I also know that sometimes the project calls for my hands, so there’s a balance I’ve struggled to find. Queue Tropical Storm Helene. Our studio was ruined. Beyond repair in any reasonable amount of time.

- I don’t want to make light of the utter devastation the region at large has faced, because it’s immense, but at the time this happened, we had no connection to the outside world, and no knowledge of just how widespread the damage was.-

In the weeks and months that have followed, we have found a new rhythm. My studio has been relocated to my garage for the time being, and we are operational; albeit far smaller than before, and as such, we have to be picky about our projects, and far more efficient in our ex*****on of them. We were able to get up and running again because of the unbelievable generosity of others. It is not lost on me that without so many of you, we would likely be out of business. Because of so many of you, I have been able to keep my two employees on payroll, and have been able to keep my family fed, my mortgage paid, and get tools and supplies needed to get projects completed for our incredible clients.

There’s so much to be grateful for this Christmas, and I thank God for everyone following along, everyone who supported us, and for a new rhythm of working from home.
