Charter Steel is thrilled to announce that we are PED certified!

This certification confirms that the steel we provide to the market meets the European Union’s Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) requirements.

PED certification is especially important for customers who require certified materials, traceability, and comprehensive documentation to support PED-compliant equipment entering the European market.

At Charter Steel, we are committed to supporting our customers’ needs. With this certification, we are now licensed to support manufacturers producing components for the European market with confidence.

June is National Safety Month, and at Charter Steel, safety is a core value that guides everything we do. Safety is everyone's responsibility, and we are committed to ensuring that every employee, contractor, and visitor goes home in the same condition they arrived.

To facilitate this, teams across Charter Steel regularly hold Safety Day events. Recently employees at our Saukville site participated in fire safety training, connected with safety vendors, and tested their skills in a forklift obstacle course.

At Charter Steel, we prioritize the important message: safety comes before tons, and safe tons are the standard.

Our 5th Steel Summit brought customers on-site for two days to dig into the details behind steel performance.

From manufacturing processes to technical considerations, attendees had the opportunity to explore, ask questions and connect with the Charter team. It’s always a valuable exchange of knowledge and perspectives, and we're thankful to everyone who came out to see us.

Leave a note in the comments or reach out to your Regional Account Manager if you're interested in joining us for our next Summit in Cleveland this fall.

Reliability and performance in steel components starts long before your application goes to work.

Bar straightening is a critical mechanical process that removes bends, twists, and distortions by passing steel bars through rollers under controlled force. Charter Steel's ten-roll bar straightening system gives you tighter tolerances, improved machinability and increased throughput.

We recently welcomed students from The Ohio State University's American Foundry Society (AFS) chapter to share how Charter approaches steelmaking.

Students learned about our operations, from electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking to thermomechanical processing. A stop at the quality lab and inspection facility showcased how advanced testing ensures that Charter Steel meets exacting quality standards. It was all about seeing steelmaking expertise in action.
