Behind the Build: USCG November Recapitalization

The U.S. Coast Guard Pier November project required a full demolition and rebuild to deliver a stronger, more resilient structure built for long-term performance.

At the core of the project was the foundation system. Challenging subsurface conditions, including soft “pluff mud,” required a solution that could deliver both stability and durability.

The answer: 24-inch precast concrete piles.

🔹466 total piles installed
🔹20–40 ft stingers used to improve alignment and control
🔹Designed to meet demanding load and environmental conditions

Through strategic planning, real-time problem solving, and strong coordination in the field, the team delivered a foundation system built to last.

Join us in congratulating Brad Corbitt on his retirement after 55 years with Standard Concrete Products.

Brad began his career working for The Hardaway Company in 1971 as an equipment clerk and is retiring in 2026 as Vice President of Risk Management at Standard Concrete Products, a testament to years of hard work, growth, and dedication.

We’re grateful for his leadership, the example he’s set, and the impact he’s had on so many along the way. His influence will be felt long after his time here.

We’re proud to be a place where careers like his are built, and where people choose to stay.

Congratulations, Brad! Enjoy your well-earned retirement. 🎉

UHPC is most suitable for projects exposed to corrosive or demanding environments, where long-term durability is critical and material performance matters most.

Its dense matrix limits permeability, helping protect against the elements that cause long-term damage.

Environmental stewardship shows up in unexpected places.

At our Tampa plant, it’s not uncommon to see local wildlife moving through the surrounding landscape. It’s a reminder that the spaces where we work are part of a much larger ecosystem.

Responsible operations mean paying attention to the environments around our plants and doing our part to ensure they remain healthy for years to come.

This Earth Day, we’re reflecting on the role industry plays in protecting the environments we share.

Heavy machinery powers precast production — but only when it’s safe to operate.

Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures ensure that equipment is fully de-energized during maintenance or servicing. Combined with comprehensive energy control programs, these procedures protect employees from electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and stored energy hazards.

Clear procedures. Verified shutdowns. Protected workers.

At Standard Concrete Products, we believe investing in people is just as important as investing in infrastructure.

Our HR team has been visiting plant locations to help employees better understand the company's reward program, redemption options, and retirement resources. By bringing these conversations directly to our plants, we hope to equip employees with the knowledge and tools they need to plan confidently for the future.

Building strong communities starts with supporting the people who help build them.
