🎺Effective June 8, reveille will move from 7:30 a.m., to 7 a.m., to better align with unit fitness routines and maximize cooler morning temperatures.

Inbound traffic on Eglin Boulevard will be halted from 7 a.m., and 5 p.m., to allow security forces personnel to pay their respects.

“The goal is to set Airmen up for success from the moment the duty day begins and align our physical training schedules with our morning traditions,” said Chief Master Sgt. Adam Guest, 96th Test Wing command chief. “It allows units to train together and then transition to the remainder of their duty day.”

What a way to wrap up this school year's Athlete of the Week! Congrats Chloe and Niceville Athletics. We are proud to sponsor this awesome community program with Get The Coast.

Niceville High School Eagles Okaloosa County School District

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Niceville softball’s Chloe Bailey capped her junior season with numbers that put her among the best pitchers in program history.

The South Alabama commit went 20-7 with a 1.38 ERA and 245 strikeouts, throwing a perfect game in the district championship and back-to-back no-hitters in the postseason while hitting .369 with six home runs and 33 RBIs. Over three varsity seasons, she’s compiled 650 career strikeouts and a 1.29 ERA.

Bailey pitched through foot injuries and an allergic reaction that left her covered in hives before the regional final against Chiles, a game Niceville won in eight innings to reach the Final Four.

“I believe that just shows how much I love the team and how bad I wanted it,” Bailey said.

In this week’s feature, we dive into:

- The bond between Bailey and catcher Molly Mayfield.
- How Coach Danny Hensley compares her to the best he’s ever coached.
- Bailey’s advice to the next generation of area softball players.

Congratulations to another impressive Get The Coast Athlete of the Week!

Okaloosa County School District Choctawhatchee High School

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: When Choctaw senior Brendan Cutler crossed the finish line at the Class 3A state championships on May 8, he didn’t immediately realize he had broken the school record in the 800 meters. It wasn’t until he was walking toward the podium that it clicked.

Cutler ran a 1:51.87, breaking the previous school record of 1:52.59 and finishing just 0.47 seconds behind the state champion. The time capped a four-year journey that saw him go from a 2:16 as a freshman to one of the fastest 800 runners in the state.

“There’s no really no better way to go out than with a PR and a school record,” Cutler said.

Cutler will graduate Thursday and head to Ohio State University in the fall, where he plans to major in sports management and try to walk on with the track and field program. Our Okaloosa Gas Athlete of the Week...
