The railing is the only part of a deck you'll touch every single day.

Hand on the rail, coffee in the other hand, checking what the weather's doing. Thousands of mornings of exactly that.

So that's not where we save money. Cedar milled smooth, corners eased, cable pulled tight enough to hum.

Boards get walked on. Railings get lived with.

Here's what a 6-foot horizontal cedar privacy fence actually costs—
because almost nobody on this coast will just tell you. 😑

$130 a foot. That's galvanized steel posts set every 6 feet, true 1x6 cedar, built to take salt air and coast wind.

No mystery number scribbled on a napkin,
no "we'll see when we get there." Site conditions and access can move it—a fence up a hillside isn't a fence across a flat lot—so this is the honest baseline, and every line of it goes in writing before you sign anything.

You should know the number before the truck shows up.
