It is with heavy hearts and a deep sense of gratitude that we at the Global BrightLight Foundation (GBL) announce that our work is coming to an end in 2019. We are incredibly thankful to you and all of our supporters who have enabled us to bring the gift of light to so many people around the world.

We’ve posted a final report on our website that you can access here: https://globalbrightlight.org/2019/06/gifts-of-light/. The report includes a brief history of GBL and our evolution over the years, details on the decision to wind down our operation, and a retrospective on everything we’ve accomplished with your support.

Together we have distributed 78,462 solar lanterns in 9 countries around the world positively impacting the lives of 385,694 people by saving them money, helping children study more, and creating safer homes. We estimate that these systems have provided over 430 million hours of light and prevented 7,800 metric tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.

We and thousands of people around the world thank you for your generosity!

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Global BrightLight's Founder and Chairman Jim Rogers. Jim envisioned a world where every person had access to clean, sustainable energy. He was committed to this mission and led our work bringing solar energy to those who need it most. We thank him for his service. https://bit.ly/2CdW3kx

Alongside our local partner Amigos de la Aldea, we’ve raised enough money to give 31 volunteer firefighters solar lanterns, which provide light and cell phone charging for rescue efforts after Fuego’s volcanic eruption. We only need to raise another $780 to hit our goal of giving solar lanterns to a total of 50 first responders! Help Guatemala today at: https://www.gofundme.com/guatemalavolcanosolaraid
