⏪Flashback Friday: Seasons Change; Standards Don’t ⏪

☀️Summer is just around the corner, and a new season of opportunity is almost here.

As we look back on the journey that’s brought us here, it’s a reminder of how far we’ve come, from our early days as a family-run operation to a nationally trusted demolition company. Every project along the way has helped shape our commitment to hard work, precision, and safety.

At Sessler Wrecking, each season gives us a chance to reflect on the work behind us and the people who make it possible. As summer approaches, we’re gearing up for another busy stretch, continuing to clear the way for progress and support the communities we serve across the country. 🏗️

The wait is finally over; it is time for another Wrecking Wednesday! This week, we are shining the spotlight on a bridge demolition in New Paltz, New York. 🌉

Sessler Wrecking was tasked with demolishing the 41,000 SF I-87 Bridge over the Wallkill River, a pin-and-hanger steel-supported concrete deck bridge with suspended center spans.

🏗️The project involved a carefully planned two-phase demolition sequence across both bridges, requiring extensive engineering coordination and detailed planning. A major component of the operation included two critical crane picks, with both cranes staged on the existing bridge backspans to safely execute the removal work.

To protect the surrounding waterways, shielding systems were installed to prevent concrete debris from entering the river and adjacent water bodies. This complex effort required precise sequencing, careful ex*****on, and a strong commitment to safety and environmental protection throughout. ✔️

Lower EMR. Higher Standards. 📉

At Sessler Wrecking, safety has become synonymous with our name. A strong safety culture doesn't happen by accident; it is built into every phase of every project, from pre-construction planning to completion. 🦺

That dedication is reflected in our Experience Modification Rate (EMR), which has consistently decreased over the last six years and currently stands at an impressive 𝟎.𝟕𝟏, significantly lower than the industry average for the demolition sector.

⬇️2021: .99
⬇️2022: .97
⬇️2023: .95
⬇️2024: .83
⬇️2025: .76
⬇️𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔: .𝟕𝟏

EMR is a critical safety measure used by insurance providers to evaluate a company’s risk level based on workplace injuries and claims. A lower EMR reflects fewer incidents and a safer, more responsible work environment.

This achievement reflects the people who make Sessler Wrecking what it is. Thank you for the hard work, dedication, and safety-first mindset you bring to every project.

💥Bringing the boom, it is time for Wrecking Wednesday! This week, we are highlighting the demolition of the Gateway Manhattan Tunnel project in New York, New York.💥

Sessler Wrecking was tasked with demolishing and removing multiple structures and site features as part of a facility redevelopment project. The primary scope included the complete demolition of an existing Quonset hut, along with its associated concrete slabs and foundation elements. ⚒️

In addition to the Quonset hut demolition, Sessler Wrecking removed an existing carport structure down to grade and demolished several exterior concrete pads throughout the site.

All demolition debris was properly segregated, loaded, transported, and disposed of at approved facilities. Upon completion, the site was left clear and prepared for future construction and redevelopment activities. ✅

For more than six decades, Sessler Wrecking has stayed closely connected to the communities we serve, working alongside local organizations and giving back through volunteering, donations, and ongoing community support. 🌟

🥫Last week, our team participated in the Waterloo Rotary EXTRAVA“CAN”za, donating hundreds of canned and boxed goods to support local food pantries, and also joined the community display contest at the Waterloo Community Center.

We’re proud to keep supporting and positively shaping our community. Thank you to everyone who took part in and helped make this event a success!

👏A big thank-you to Chris Baker, Steve Blaszka, Spencer Reese, and Jarid Whitten for their dedication and creativity in making our display come together so well!

💥Midweek vibes are in full swing, welcome to another exciting Wrecking Wednesday! This week, we are highlighting the demolition of the Ball North Water Tank in Amherst, New York.

🏗️ Sessler Wrecking was tasked with demolishing a 5-million-gallon, steel-framed water tank near active sewer lines. In addition to navigating heavy equipment near and around the sewer lines, our crew also performed the demolition work in close proximity to surrounding structures and utilities, requiring careful coordination and controlled ex*****on throughout the project.

The structure was systematically sheared apart using specialized demolition equipment, allowing our team to safely bring down the tank while maintaining control of debris within the confined work area. This allowed materials to be safely handled within the limited operational area while protecting nearby infrastructure.🛡️

Once the tank was fully removed, all materials were transported to approved recycling facilities for proper disposal, leaving the site clean and prepared for the next phase of work.✅
