Around here, Wednesday only means one thing: Wrecking Wednesday!

Did you know Sessler Wrecking provides additional support services beyond building and bridge demolition? This week, we are highlighting our site preparation and clearing capabilities and how our team and equipment can help prepare a property for its next phase.

For this project, Sessler Wrecking was tasked with preparing approximately 153 acres of vacant woodland for future development. Utilizing GPS technology and specialized equipment from our fleet, crews cleared trees and brush throughout the site.

After clearing, our crews excavated and graded the property and built two large stormwater retention basins, showing we can handle comprehensive sitework and prepare undeveloped land for future use.

Another Wednesday means another look at what Sessler Wrecking does best in this week’s edition of Wrecking Wednesday!

Sessler Wrecking was tasked with completing the demolition work required for the deck replacement of the Lake Avenue Bridge over the Owasco River in Auburn, New York. The project included removing approximately 17,406 square feet of concrete bridge deck while live utilities remained in service beneath the structure.

Safespan shielding installed by others was positioned below the work area, requiring careful demolition methods to protect both the shielding and active utilities. Our crews also removed the sidewalk stringers and diaphragms along both sides of the bridge.

Following demolition, the steel and concrete debris were transported to separate facilities for recycling.

🎉 Making Good Times Happen!☀️

This past weekend, the Sessler Companies team and our families came together for one of our favorite traditions, the annual Employee Summer Picnic!

It was a great opportunity to step away from our day-to-day work, spend time together, and recognize the people who make everything we do possible. From our teams in the field to those behind the scenes in our offices and shops, our employees' commitment continues to move our organization forward. We are equally grateful to their families for the support they provide throughout the year.

The day was packed with something for everyone, including carnival games, caricatures, face painting, co****le, live music, great food, and plenty of time to enjoy each other’s company.

The party concluded with the 3rd Annual Tug-of-War competition, where our team claimed bragging rights over Sessler Environmental Services for the second year in a row! Following yet another defeat, we’re challenging SES to step up and donate $1,000 to Trevor’s Gift.

A special thank you to Seneca Lake Resorts for welcoming us and providing the perfect setting for this year’s annual picnic. 🏞️

We’re back with a special edition of Wrecking Wednesday! In recognition of National Water Quality Month this August, we’re highlighting the 2009 demolition of the Lake Champlain Bridge in Crown Point, New York, where thorough debris recovery was a critical part of the project.

Under an emergency contract with New York State, Sessler Wrecking mobilized rapidly to assist with the implosion and removal of the 2,200-foot-long bridge connecting New York and Vermont. Following the implosion, our crews carried out a complex marine recovery operation, retrieving thousands of tons of steel and concrete from the lake floor.

Cold-water divers secured submerged debris for removal while operations continued 24 hours a day throughout the winter to clear the channel. This work reflects the careful planning and environmental stewardship required when demolition takes place within a vital freshwater resource.

We’re feeling a little nostalgic, so we’re throwing it back for a special Way Back Wrecking Wednesday!

This week, we’re spotlighting the demolition of the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge over the Quinnipiac River in New Haven, Connecticut. This was one of our more technical bridge demolition projects to date!

Sessler Wrecking was tasked with demolishing and removing 10,000 cubic yards of concrete substructure, half of which was submerged at depths exceeding 30 feet. The project also included the removal of 170,000 square feet of concrete decking.

Working from trestles and barges, our crews utilized Trimble 3D guidance systems to maintain accuracy and control throughout the underwater demolition process.

This project highlighted Sessler Wrecking's specialized expertise, marine equipment, and advanced technology in challenging demolition work above and below the waterline.
