🎉 We’re excited to welcome Caitlyn Piatkowski to Sessler Wrecking as a Project Manager in our Bridge Demolition Division!

In her role, Caitlyn will assist with estimating, contract reviews, project coordination, and the development of bridge demolition plans. 🛠️

Caitlyn has over 16 years of experience in project management and holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Rochester Institute of Technology. Before joining Sessler Wrecking, she worked on the site development team at Wegmans Food Markets, managing projects from design through completion.

Her experience and technical knowledge will be a great asset to our Bridge Demolition Division, and we look forward to seeing her succeed in her new role!

We're back with another Wrecking Wednesday, and this week, we're heading to Lewiston, New York, to revisit a unique demolition project at the Lewiston Border Crossing! 🚧

Sessler Wrecking was tasked with the demolition of multiple toll lanes, canopies, toll island booths, and a former administration building. The work was completed across four phases, with crews operating within restricted work zones while accommodating heavy traffic at the active border crossing. 🏗️

The project's location at an international border added complexities related to safety, security, and daily operations. Despite these challenges, our team completed the demolition without disrupting border operations.

Keeping Safety on Course! ⛳

Last Friday, employees at our Waterloo headquarters and Southeast Division stepped away from their daily routines for our annual Safety Stand Down. The morning included important discussions about job site safety, company updates, and employee benefits, and reinforced the practices that help keep our crews safe every day.

After the morning meetings, it was time to trade hard hats for golf hats! Employees headed to the course for an afternoon of friendly competition, plenty of laughs, and some well-deserved time together outside of work. 🏌️‍♂️

By combining safety awareness with team building, we continue to strengthen relationships, teamwork, and commitment to safety that make a difference on every job site.

After severe flooding caused extensive damage throughout portions of the Town of Lodi, Sessler Wrecking was called in to help with the cleanup.

For the first Wrecking Wednesday of October, we’re looking back at our role in the response and recovery efforts at Lodi Point.

Our crew used barges and push boats to remove debris from Seneca Lake, restored streams and ditches, and cleared debris from Lodi Point. Material was also transported off-site for recycling.

Work continued day and night, including weekends and holidays, for several weeks to support the cleanup and help the community recover.

Another week, another look behind the wrecking. Wrecking Wednesday is back! This week, we’re taking you behind the wrecking and onto the jobsite for a closer look at the work that went into demolishing Mohawk Valley Health Systems in Utica, New York! 🚧

Sessler Wrecking demolished and remediated 25 buildings across four city blocks, with structures ranging from one to five stories.

The work included asbestos abatement, soil remediation, backfill, and site preparation for the next phase of development. Site work also included utility disconnections along with traffic, noise, and dust control, while our team consolidated waste streams to reduce construction debris and exceed the project’s recycling goals.

As part of one of the Northeast’s highest-profile healthcare projects, the work required extensive coordination with local and state agencies to keep the project moving safely and efficiently.

No better way to get through the middle of the week than with a little demolition. This week, we are highlighting a bridge demolition in Tinton Falls, New Jersey.

Sessler Wrecking completed the demolition of the bridge superstructure along the heavily traveled Garden State Parkway. Multiple excavators were used to remove the parapets and control debris during the demolition.

Using a 450-ton crane, our team removed the superstructure over two nights while limiting impacts to traffic on the roadway below. Some sections weighed up to 160,000 pounds, roughly the weight of 32 Ford F-150 pickup trucks, and were carefully lifted to avoid damaging the existing substructures, which remained in place for reuse.

Another example of the planning and precision Sessler Wrecking brings to complex bridge demolition.
