Had this XR650L come into the shop again. If you recall, this was a bike I built as a Unicorn ADV bike. Well, as you can see, it has been on some adventures, up to and including water boarding. I am not entirely sure what information this bike had/has but it didnt give it up.
This came in for a suspension service. But it was starting very hard and smoking a lot due to being swamped multiple times. It also had a very distinct knock. So it was decided to check out the top end. The small end of the rod had galled, the piston had seized in the bore at one time. To fix theses issues, I disassembled top to bottom. Rebuilt the crankshaft and trued it, replaced every bearing in the bottom end, bored and honed the cylinder for a new piston. Rebuilt the head with new components including cutting the seats concenctric to the guides. Refurbished the rocker arms and camshaft. All of the cases, head, head cover, and side covers were v***r blasted for a restored finish. I also rebuilt the forks, and shock while it was here. The Honda is ready for more adventures! Thank you for your business, Bob!
