As aviation soared from propeller planes to the jet age in the 1950s, the dedicated team at Boeing Wichita answered the call to build fast bombers for the U.S. military. They helped bring the iconic B-47 Stratojet to life — over 1,000 rolled off the production line in just six years!

Then, they shifted gears to produce the mighty B-52 Stratofortress — dozens of which are still flying today. By the end of the 1950s, their workforce swelled to over 35,000, surpassing even WWII numbers, showcasing the incredible dedication and skill for which is known.

As America entered WWII in 1941, the men and women of Boeing Wichita rolled up their sleeves to support the U.S. military. “Rosie the Riveters” joined the workforce, with nearly 30,000 employees fueling the fight for freedom.

Around the clock, they built the aircraft that helped the Allies win, with nearly five B-29 Superfortresses rolling off the line every day by 1945. Thousands of pilots honed their skills on the Kaydet bi-plane trainer, with more than 10,000 built right here in Wichita. ✈️

’s legacy continued in the Air Capital of the World.

Today, we join the Wichita and aviation communities in mourning the loss of a legend – Connie Palacioz.

Connie was one of the original "Rosie the Riveters," working at Boeing Wichita to build B-29 Superfortress planes during World War II. Her dedication, along with that of thousands of others at Boeing Wichita in the 1940s, resulted in the production of an astonishing 1,644 B-29s.

When asked in past interviews about her impact on aviation history, Connie humbly said, "I was just doing my job."

But Connie was so much more than her work. She stands as a symbol of resilience, commitment, and the extraordinary influence one individual can have on history.

Rest well, Connie. Every time we see B-29 Doc soaring high above us, we’ll think of you – the hands and heart behind its legacy.

Everett 🤝 737

A new 737 MAX production line is preparing to launch this summer in Everett. The North Line will increase single-aisle production capacity, focusing on 737-8s, 737-9s and 737-10s — allowing us to better meet market demand. This will expand capacity for single-aisle production beyond the established Renton lines.

The team brings together new hires and experienced employees who will build the first 737s at the Everett site.

“It’s like running,” said Jennifer Boland-Masterson, 737 production leader for the Everett line. “We know how to do it, and we’ve done it before, but we need to warm up our muscles. You don’t start with a marathon. You start with shorter distances and build up from there.”
