With another few days of extreme heat ahead, your air conditioner is putting in some serious overtime.
During stretches of extreme heat, it isn't unusual for an AC system to run longer than it normally would as it works to keep up with the heat outside.
A few simple things can help:
โข Check your air filter and replace it if it's dirty.
โข Keep blinds and curtains closed against direct afternoon sun.
โข Make sure the area around your outdoor unit is clear of grass, weeds and debris.
โข Avoid making large thermostat changes throughout the day.
Long run times can be normal in extreme conditions. Warm air from the vents, unusual noises, ice on the system, or temperatures that continue climbing indoors can be signs that something needs attention.
Stay cool, Wichita. Your AC is working hard this week too.
