After record high temperatures in the 80s (even lower 90s in few spots) to start the week, the coldest air mass of the fall season is forecast to arrive Friday into Saturday. High temps Fri and Sat will mostly be in the 50s with nighttime lows Friday night in the 30s away from Lake Michigan and city of Chicago. All indications are that the cold snap will be short lived with a return to unseasonably warm weather likely next week into next weekend. Average high temperatures next week are in the lower 60s, falling into the upper 50s next weekend, so while it will likely be generally above average, it is increasingly rare to see temps in the 80s, but some days with highs in the 70s are certainly possible.
