Ever watched 150 pieces turn into a robot? 🔧

This is Pilot, our robot for grades 3-5. Students build it themselves with real tools, then code it to drive, sense and follow their commands.

When the unit wraps up, they take it apart so next year's class gets the same build day.

Build it. Code it. Drive it. Do it all again next year.

What 250 pieces and a screwdriver look like in a middle school classroom. 🔧

These students at Veritas Prep built their own Axle robots from a bin of parts. Wheels, motors, sensors, the whole thing.

MassCUE was a blast! Our Director of Education Emily and CEO Anthony spent the past two days at Gillette Stadium for MassCUE, and it was awesome. 🏈 We had great conversations at the booth, and the best part was watching students from Saint John Paul II Catholic Academy take over the CueKids area to explain their endangered wildlife robotics projects! The most underrated part of classroom robotics has nothing to do with code.

Put two students on one robot and you get a negotiation. Who holds the screwdriver, whose idea gets tested first, who admits the wheels went on backwards. They have to explain their thinking to somebody who disagrees with them, try it anyway, and then watch it fail in front of the class.

That is perseverance, communication and teamwork, taught by a robot that does exactly what it is told and nothing more.

We design every lesson for groups of two to three for that reason. The engineering is real, and so is everything happening around it.

From a bin of parts to a robot competition in 30 seconds. ⚡

It takes a little longer than that in real life. A few class periods to build, a few weeks of coding and driving, and then the best day of the whole unit: competing with the robot you built yourself.

Watch what happens the first time a student drives a robot. 🤖

Half the room will tell you they are not really into robotics. Then they take their turn, the robot moves because of something they did, and that opinion changes in about four seconds.

Everything after that is easier, because the student who thought this was not for them has already been proven wrong by their own hands.

Meet Fido. He gets around. 🐾

Our robot dog has been to conferences, classrooms and school gyms all over, and he's picked up a few push-up contests along the way.
