1. Inspect your vents
Fall is a great time to get your duct system checked by a professional. Make sure they check that all the ducts are properly connected and that there are no signs of damage.

2. Check your water heater
Place the back of your hand against the outside of your water heater tank. If it feels hot or even warm, some of the energy used to heat the water is escaping. Check your manual and the labels on the tank to make sure the settings are correct. The U.S.. Department of Energy typically recommends that the temperature be set to 120 degrees for maximum efficiency.

3. Make sure your vents aren’t blocked
Blockages can cause your system to work harder to heat or cool your home, so make sure that your vents’ dampers are open and that they’re not being blocked by any furniture or drapes.

4. Adjust the time you run your pool pump
Since any time spent in the pool reduces dramatically during the fall, it’s the perfect time to adjust your pool pump to only run three to four hours a day.

5. Schedule an hvac system cleaning
Fall is a great time to schedule your yearly hvac maintenance and service. This will help your system work more efficiently as it transitions from cooling in the summer to heating in the winter.

Having your furnace inspected or "tuned up" gives a technician an opportunity to check for possible issues and correct them
before they turn into problems (or emergencies). Here are seven reasons why you should schedule your furnace inspection
now.
Prolong the Life of Your Furnace
Prevent Carbon Monoxide Leaks
Clean Built-Up Rust and Dirt
Replace Worn-Out Parts
Increase Efficiency
Keep Your Warranty Valid
Clean Air Filters
During your annual furnace inspection, the technician should replace or clean your furnace's air filters. A clean furnace filter
catches dust and debris before it has a chance to circulate through your house, which can affect your indoor air quality.
However, this isn't the only time your furnace's air filter should be replaced or cleaned during the winter you should check
your furnace filter every month.
Whether your furnace is old or new, there are benefits to having it inspected annually by a qualified technician. It will not only
save you money, but it keeps your furnace working hard for years to come while also protecting your home and family.
