Solar Cells: These are the heart of the solar panel. Made primarily of silicon, these cells capture sunlight and convert it into electricity through the photovoltaic effect.

Encapsulation Material (EVA): Ever wondered what keeps those solar cells safe and snug? That's where Ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) comes in! It encapsulates and protects the solar cells from moisture, dust, and mechanical stress.

Backsheet: Think of this as the solar panel's armor. The back sheet, often made of polymer or Tedlar, provides insulation and shields the panel's internal components from the elements.

Front Cover (Glass): Just like your smartphone screen, solar panels have a protective layer โ€“ tempered glass! This sturdy cover shields the solar cells from impacts, weather, and UV radiation while letting sunlight pass through.

Frame: Providing structure and support, the frame of the solar panel is typically made of lightweight, durable aluminum. It keeps everything in place and protects the panel during installation and transportation.

Busbars and Interconnects: These tiny conductive strips connect the solar cells together, ensuring that the electricity generated flows smoothly to the output terminals.

Junction Box: You'll find this little box on the back of the solar panel. It's where all the electrical connections from the solar cells come together, along with diodes to prevent reverse current flow.

Adhesives and Sealants: Holding everything together and keeping it watertight, adhesives and sealants play a crucial role in the assembly and longevity of solar panels.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal recently announced the Delhi Solar Policy 2024, aiming to provide residents with an opportunity to reduce their electricity bills to zero through the installation of rooftop solar panels.

Under this policy, the government will pay Rs 3 per unit for solar plants up to 3 kilowatts and Rs 2 per unit for plants between 3 and 5 kilowatts.

The objective of this policy is to reduce air pollution in Delhi and combat inflation by promoting solar energy adoption. Residents installing solar panels on rooftops are expected to enjoy zero electricity bills, regardless of the units consumed.
