Mr. John Steven Verrosa is a graduate of the UP College of Music, with a Diploma in Creative and Performing Musical Arts in Asian Music, major in Kulintang. He is also an alumnus of the University of the Philippines Manila Chorale where he started his musical journey in 2010 and had been a bass section leader for six years, and assistant conductor for two years. Currently, he is the music director of the UP Manila Chorale. At present, he is actively participating as a member of Villancico Vocal Ensemble under Dr. Beverly Shangkuan-Cheng, as well as a member and the current bass section head of Aleron under Mr. Christopher Arceo. He was also part of the UP Tugtugang Musika Asyatika, the main performing ensemble of the Department of Musicology at the UP College of Music, specializing in performing Asian Music instruments and ensembles. He has been touring in Europe and in Asia for choral competitions and festivals since 2011.

Sa kabila ng pangangamba,
Sa kabila ng peligro’t panganib
‘Di alintana ang pagkawalay sa pamilya
Taas-noong kagitingan ang hatid.

Nakikiisa ang UP Manila Chorale sa pagdiriwang ng giting at tapang na ipinamalas ng ating mga beterano noong World War II sa ngalan ng pambansang kasarinlan. Pinapaalala ng araw na ito ang kakayahan ng mamamayang Pilipino na ipagtanggol ang bayan mula sa mga mang-aapi.

Nawa’y matandaan natin ang giting na nananalaytay sa dugo ng Pilipino mula noon hanggang ngayon, at gamitin ito upang ipaglaban ang bayan at mga kababayan mula sa mga pwersang nais nakawing muli ang kalayaan at kapayapaang kasulukuyang natatamasa.
